The Autonomous Community contracts the urban renewal works of La Salud-Cristo Rey de Lorca, which will improve accessibility and its connection with the already reconstructed neighborhoods of La Viña and Alfonso X, with infrastructures that will promote mobility and urban integration in this neighborhood of the city.
They will mean a regional investment of just over two million euros and will have a lead time of 12 months.
The urban renewal will focus on three axes: one green, which will prioritize the provision of areas with trees;
another intended for commercial activity;
and the third one to the leisure and sport, that will include activities dinamizadoras of the social activity of the district with the execution of a neighborhood / cultural classroom, the implantation of areas of infantile games and majors, among others.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, stressed that the transformation of the new neighborhood La Salud-Cristo Rey "will contribute to enhance the economic activity and social life of the city as it will become a more functional, more commercial, better neighborhood connected and more dedicated to the well-being of the neighbor ".
Valverde indicated that special relevance will be given to the renovation of all existing service networks (potable water, sanitation and stormwater, power lines, lighting, telecommunications) and the installation of services with innovative criteria.
Likewise, the implementation of energy efficiency and sustainability actions has been proposed, such as the installation of a water network for the irrigation of vegetation in streets and gardens, and the improvement of energy management, environmental control and efficiency of the mobility, in the line of the 'smart-city' (smart city).
Interconnection with the rest of the city
The counselor explained that special importance will be given to the interconnection between spaces in the adjoining neighborhoods and the pedestrianization of the main axes of the neighborhoods will be favored so that there is a fluid communication between them.
In particular, pedestrian access, cycling and road traffic will be promoted to connect La Salud-Cristo Rey with La Viña through Journalists Street, Rubén Darío Street and Dyer-Masonry Street, and the sidewalks of the highway will be continued of Granada to facilitate the transit with the Alfonso X neighborhood.
The pedestrianization of most of the neighborhood and the creation of shared spaces will be carried out, which will give preference to pedestrians and bicycles in the use of these spaces.
It will free a large amount of public space necessary for the social life of the neighborhood and sustainable mobility, thus contributing to the social relationship between neighbors and improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of the city.
