It is a project that adds to the construction of the new health center, a green area with children's park, the integral improvement of Charco Street, in addition, those already executed in the streets Mayor and Ortega Melgares, among others.
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the Development Counselor, Patricio Valverde, have informed that the remodeling works of access to our city have already been tendered for the neighborhood of San Cristóbal, from the Caravaca highway and the highway, a project that was one of the priority issues for this Municipal Executive.
In fact, we had been working for several years on the elaboration of the necessary plan, a work that has been carried out in parallel to the complicated administrative process that it required.
After many months of progressing, today we can transfer to all Lorca very good news, such as the publication of the tender for the works.
Fulgencio Gil has indicated that the objective of this action is to ensure that one of the current access doors to our city offers an improved appearance, both from the aesthetic point of view and equipment supply and supply services for all residents.
We want Lorca to offer a positive first impression, and now we will have the opportunity to obtain it, thanks to the investment that will be executed by the Ministry of Development.
As main novelties included in the project that goes out to public tender, we must point out that it benefits a section of 1.4 km in length, contemplating an improvement of the traffic management with the incorporation of 2 new rounds, together with other interventions in the that 2,586 m3 of gravel and 6,000 m2 of paving stone will be needed for sidewalks.
The Mayor has indicated that this new investment is added to those already being implemented and are planned in San Cristóbal, such as the construction of a new health center, as well as the works for a large green area with a children's park between Eulogio streets Periago, Juan Mínguez and Beato Fray Pedro Soler.
This municipal intervention is the most ambitious urban planning project that has been developed in the area, and will result in the release of a key space to improve the neighborhood both aesthetically and dotacionalmente.
Fulgencio Gil has reported that the City of Lorca has improved over the past few years over a hundred streets in the neighborhood of San Cristóbal, investments of which include the integral improvement of Calle Mayor and Ortega Melgares (715,000 euros), as well as Eulogio Periago (€ 712,000) including the latter in an injection of 7.5 million for the comprehensive arrangement of a battery of 58 streets, which makes this performance the most beneficial and highest ever made in San Cristóbal in its history.
In addition to the indicated, other municipal works have allowed the improvement of other 46 streets in the same neighborhood.
It should be anticipated that San Cristobal has also begun work on Charco Street, responding to the commitment that this City Council expressed to the neighbors, involving an investment of 358,333.70 euros.
The remodeling of the main access road to the city of Lorca from the A-7 highway, through the neighborhood of San Cristóbal, will benefit more than 4,000 users daily.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde today announced the start of the contracting process with the tender for the improvement works of the RM-711, from its junction with the road that runs between Lorca and Zarzadilla de Totana (RM-C9) , until its junction with the one that connects with Pantano de Puentes (RM-C15).
It is a work of integration of a regional highway in its urban section, and will extend over a total length of 1.4 kilometers from the RM-711, which connects with the town of Caravaca de la Cruz.
The action consists in the renewal of the pavement of the road, the construction of two roundabouts to improve safety and facilitate traffic movements at the junctions with the other two roads (C15 and Barranco Hondo).
The deadline for submission of bids of companies interested in carrying out this work begins tomorrow, Tuesday and will end next August 18.
The term of execution of this action will be ten months.
Patricio Valverde presented the action that will involve a regional investment of 1.8 million euros in the improvement of "one of the most important communication routes of Lorca and that responds to one of the historic claims of the neighbors."
He stressed that "the new Lorca is gaining ground in the city" and recalled that they have already allocated more than 30 million euros to the renovation of 28 roads, which involve a length of 183 kilometers.
He pointed out that his department continues working on the rest of the projects committed by the Community, whose total investment amounts to 346 million euros.
The work to improve the RM-711 also includes measures to improve mobility and accessibility for people.
Thus, new parking spaces and the renewal of the pavement of the road will be created and a shared use path will be built for people and bicycles, the latter outside the urban core.
In addition, underground supply, sanitation, stormwater and street lighting pipelines will be replaced.
