The month of August The Fortaleza del Sol widens its opening hours and the activities it offers for tourists who visit Lorca the most tourist month of the year.
The Castle widens its opening hours coinciding with one of the tourist seasons of more visitors, the month of August.
Every day the opening hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (last entry at 8:30 p.m.), and from Tuesday to Saturday it will be extended until midnight with evening visits: "The guardian of the stars" special for the families with children that starts at 9:00 p.m.;
and "The Sunset of History" from 8:30 p.m.
From Tuesday to Saturday you can dine on the terrace of Las Caballerizas del Castillo de Lorca with a special menu at € 18 and a maximum of 40 people, so it is recommended to book through the website of Lorca Taller del Tiempo.
The Perseids or rain of stars of San Lorenzo, is another of the main activities of August in the castle and that this year will take place on Thursday August 9 from 21:00 hours with passes and different activities for children and adults.
To end the month of August there are two special days of "Music & Tapas" with a commitment by singer-songwriters from Lorca.
On August 24 you can enjoy the voice of Carmen Miñarro, "Bonica", who will present her acoustic songs from "Flores en los balcones".
And on the 31st it will be the turn of Tony Blaya, singer from Lorca who has just started his solo career, presenting his first album "TÚ".
During the day there are also activities specially designed for families, such as the theatrical visit "Caballeros y Princesas", which will be held every day at 12:30 a.m.;
and the number of guided visits to the synagogue and the Torre Alfonsina is increased so that the visitor can have more options to get to know these main spaces of the fortress by the hand of a specialized guide completing his visit to the Castle with the audio guide in several languages .
The restaurant Las Caballerizas del Castillo de Lorca and the souvenir shop also open every day of the month to serve visitors who can taste the local cuisine and take a souvenir of their visit to the city.
More than 7600 tickets sold to the different activities were those registered in August of last year and 82% of these visitors came from outside the Region of Murcia according to the information collected at the tourist information points.
With the acquisition of Tarjeta Amig @ de Lorca the entrance to the castle is free throughout the year, with special prices on guided tours and other activities, discounts in store and cafeteria.
It can be requested at the Visitors Center of Lorca, at the Tourism Office of Plaza de España or at Castillo, directly on the day of the visit.
The Tourist Office and the Visitor Center of Lorca are also prepared to serve residents, tourists, visitors and holiday makers in the most vacation month of the year.
