Pedro Sosa, councilor for Izquierda Unida Verdes in the municipality of Lorca, demands more personnel at the health center in San Diego, following the criticism of users who can not be served by the saturation suffered by this center.
According to complaints from users, for consultation with their GP, appointments are not given until August 20, so they could only be attended without an appointment.
In the case of pediatrics, the two physicians who are present during the summer, are not enough to meet the volume of population that corresponds to this center, a situation that worsens when one of them has to attend an emergency outside the center, leaving as only option for users who go urgently with their children to the center, wait until three in the afternoon and go to the emergency room of Rafael Méndez to be treated, with the anguish that implies for the parents.
These situations lead to a collapse of the emergency service at the Rafael Méndez Hospital, because patients who need primary care in San Diego before the 20th or urgently need only that option if they want to be treated.
For Sosa, both the regional government and the city council are responsible for the situation of helplessness suffered by the users of this health center in the surrounding neighborhoods.
The first, due to its disastrous management capacity and failure to keep its promises, after the closure of the SUAP in San Diego in 2016, promised a budget of € 200,000 to expand its pediatric service and the implementation of a Health Point. Continuous Attention (PAC), but none of those two promises has been carried out.
And the council for once again giving in to their regional superiors and not defending the rights and interests of Lorca.
