Interested companies may submit their offers until September 12
The Autonomous Community begins the process of contracting the construction of the first section of the Central Round of Lorca, which will connect the districts of Apolonia and San Diego and has a budget of the regional government of more than 7.5 million.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, stressed that the regional executive "gives an important boost to this road that will act as the backbone of Lorca's communications, will absorb 20,000 vehicle movements and prevent most from passing through the center of the city. city".
The tender for the first tranche was published this week in the Official Journal of the European Union (DOUE) and in the profile of the Community contractor.
Companies interested in bidding on the first section of the Central Round may submit their bids until next September 12.
Valverde stressed that "this new infrastructure responds to a demand from Lorca and meets the current and future needs of the city" and added that the main novelty of the project is that it has adapted to the arrival of high speed Lorca and this section of the Central Round will finally cross the Murcia-Águilas railway line in an underground way ".
The counselor said that the Central Round "is taking steps to become a reality" and recalled that his department has just awarded the works of the second section of the road for 3.6 million, which will enable the immediate start of works.
The third section is in the process of being written by the technicians of the Lorca Consistory and the fourth section is already open to traffic.
The Central Round of Lorca will have a total length of 4.4 kilometers, between the N-340a and the Autovía RM-11 (Autovía de Águilas), and will involve a global investment of some 30 million euros, co-financed between the Community and the Town hall.
First section of the Round
The first section of the Central Round has a route of 1.3 kilometers and will join the old road N-340a to the entrance of Lorca by the east of the city, in the neighborhood of Apolonia, and ends in a future roundabout located in the neighborhood of San Diego, which will be the start of the second section of the Ronda.
The new road will have double lanes, with two lanes of 3.5 meters wide each, separated by a median of one meter wide and in which luminaires will be installed.
A bike lane three meters wide will be built on the right side of the road, while a pedestrian sidewalk two meters wide is planned on the left side, separated from the road by a concrete curb.
The intersections will be resolved by roundabouts of different diameters.
A total of five roundabouts have been projected.
The first one, at the intersection with the N-340a road with an elliptical shape and the rest with a circular shape.
This first section of the South Central Round has two clearly differentiated sections.
The first of them, with a sensibly north-south layout, joins the first two roundabouts crossing the Murcia-Águilas railway line in an underground way, and the second, with east-west layout, joins the other three roundabouts, the last one being the neighborhood of San Diego.
