The councilor of this formation, Gloria Martin, asked through a motion of Plenary that was approved unanimously a year ago, that said buildings are intended for social rent at affordable prices for young people and families with economic difficulties
The councilor of IU-Greens in Lorca, Gloria Martin, recalled that a year has passed since, at the initiative of its political formation, the Plenary approved the drafting and implementation of a Municipal Housing Plan for the period 2018-2023 with the participation of neighbors and social and economic agents.
"Since then, we know nothing of this tool, essential to identify and quantify the needs of the municipality in this matter," said Martin.
Therefore, has demanded the councilor responsible, Sandra Martínez (PP), to explain at what point is the wording of a plan that should include specific help lines to facilitate the emancipation of young Lorca under 35 years and facilities for that evicted families can access homes owned by financial entities through reduced rents.
Gloria Martín explained that the IU initiative was also related to the 59 municipally owned properties located in the San Fernando neighborhood, which IU asks them to allocate to the creation of a young housing park for rent "affordable", which also could benefit families with economic difficulties.
Martín recalled that in 2016 the Consistory became agent promoter of the reconstruction of 25 percent of the neighborhood, assuming the ownership of 59 of the 232 houses, whose property shares had been expropriated from their former owners by the Law of Forced Substitution to avoid that his opposition paralyzed the reconstruction of the whole.
The city of Lorca dedicated 354,000 euros to the payment of the 59 expropriations through a grant obtained from the Community under the loan of the European Investment Bank for the recovery of the city.
For its construction resorted to Sepes funds for Lorca after the earthquakes that depend on the Ministry of Development (four million euros).
For Martín, independently of the deficiencies in the management related to the recovery of Lorca after the earthquakes that devastated the city in 2011, which have led to that, seven years later, the residents of this neighborhood have not yet been able to return to their homes and that, even, twelve families with minor children continue living in barracks, "it is essential to initiate the procedure so that these 59 homes are made available to Lorca as soon as the habitability certificates are granted."
