The councilor of IU-Greens in Lorca, Gloria Martin, has criticized the breach of the promise to stop the procedures for the reinstatement of the 2,000 victims of the earthquakes in 2011, to whom the State and CARM demand the return of the helps.
Martin explained that some affected are receiving, by the Tax Agency of the Region of Murcia, notifications of the order of urgency that empowers the Administration to the embargo of bank accounts, salaries, pensions and even real estate to collect the aid.
This procedure includes the payment of a surcharge of 20% on the principal, which also bears default interest from the beginning of the executive period until the date of entry.
In the press conference offered by the mayor, testimony has been given by one of the affected, María Ángeles Romero, to whom the Tax Agency demands the reimbursement of part of the interest that corresponds to the State of an aid that returned four years ago.
Romero explained that he had to ask for a personal loan from his bank to return the subsidy "that was destined to the last cent to repair my home, which also cost more than what they gave me".
Martín already denounced last week that the delay of the CARM to process the administrative procedures, caused that the affected ones have accumulated interests of delay during years.
To this must be added the interest on personal loans that many victims have had to ask the banks to return the aid, which he described as "insane".
"They still ask us for more patience, more loyalty, more collaboration, and they try to cope with us by extending the deadlines to give solutions to these neighbors," complained Martín.
"The case of Maria Angeles would be solved if the Government of Spain had ordered months ago the cancellation of their interests," he said, adding that "they can not ask for peace of mind to those affected who are threatening the embargo of their pensions" , as in this case.
"The waiting time is over because those affected can not take it anymore," he said.
The councilor of IU-Greens has also ensured that his party has not hesitated to applaud or publicly show their appreciation when representatives of the PP or the PSOE have made efforts or announcements aimed at solving this problem, "but what they can not expect is to silence us when our neighbors are moving their despair, because their anguish, pain and worry are also ours. "
For this reason, Martin has again asked for "celerity" to those responsible for the central and regional governments who have in their hands to close the wounds of the earthquakes and comply with the given word.
Finally, the councilor of Izquierda Unida has called for public pronouncements "at the highest level" to alleviate the uncertainty that neighbors suffer at the moment because "we no longer trust intermediaries."
"It is up to the regional president, Fernando López Miras (PP), to announce the precautionary suspension of the reimbursements and the immediate application of the justification procedure approved by Law 8/2018, to the Minister of Public Works, José Luis Ábalos (PSOE), to ensure that the state part of the interests is to be canceled, and the Justice Minister, Dolores Delgado (PSOE), to guarantee that the State Attorney's report on the calculation of the prescriptions will be ready this month, although to those affected, in presence of the Government Delegate, they were told at the regional Assembly that it would be made public in July.
