Pedro Sosa, councilor for Izquierda Unida Verdes in the municipality of Lorca, alerted by the residents of San Diego who live around the Guadalentín River, has urged the government team to put an end to the water accumulation foci in the city. Guadalentín river bed as it passes through the city and are serving as a niche for the development of populations of the dangerous tiger mosquito.
Sosa has been able to verify in person how the water of the Fuente del Oro, on its way out to the river, remains stagnant in the canalization, forming an ideal water film for the development of these blood-sucking insects, which in addition to causing painful stings, can be vectors of infectious diseases.
Therefore, the mayor says that it is of little use that from the Department of Health posters are placed with advice to citizens to kill these mosquitoes, if then the City Council does not apply to public places.
For this reason, Sosa has called for greater coordination between the councils of Citizen Security, Parks and Gardens and Health to detect and act on this and other foci that may occur in public spaces of the municipality, mainly in landscaped areas, as prevention It is the main measure in the fight against these mosquitoes.
Finally, Sosa has also demanded the cleaning of the riverbed, which has also demanded other times, but that continues to accumulate a lot of garbage, giving a terrible image for both Lorca, as for those who dress us.
"If we do not know how to take care of what we have, we can hardly keep what we build," said the mayor.
