Mateos recalls that it was constituted on January 23, at the initiative of the PSOE, and that although its regulations indicate that it will meet semiannually, it has not been summoned for 8 months, meanwhile, the situation of the Historic District continues to worsen with episodes of ledges that are detached, occupation of homes, shops that disappear or lack of parking, among others.

The spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos said that last January the Sectoral Council for the Promotion of the Historic District was established.

This sectorial council was born, remembers Mateos, on the initiative of the PSOE, after the celebration of a monographic plenary session to analyze and promote actions on the historical helmet celebrated on November 21, 2016 and convened by the mayors of the PSOE.

Mateos indicates that after the holding of the constitutive session on January 23 of this year, in which the actions to be carried out in the following months were presented, as well as the status of PEPRICH, this body has not been reunited. collaboration, participation and debate of proposals for the improvement of our battered Historic District, despite the fact that its regulations, in article 15, stipulate the holding of "semi-annual sessions".

"This period has already passed well without another session having been called, nor is there any news about it," meanwhile, he regrets - our Historic Center continues to deteriorate by leaps and bounds.

The Socialist councilor points out that conferences and forums have been held but "we have no news of PEPRICH's processing status", which happens to be one of the most important documents and that accumulates months and months of delay, since in February 2017 it adds - its public exhibition and subsequent initial approval by the Plenary Session of the City Council has already been announced, although it has not been carried out to date.

Along with the above, says Mateos, we continue to experience episodes that continue to degrade the historical center: detachment of cornices, attempts to occupy empty houses, plots that accumulate garbage, lack of parking, shops that leave, among others;

despite being still performing "punctual or isolated actions", such as the rehabilitation of the high churches, but without an overall vision, regrets.

For Mateos, the struggle to recover the historical center can not remain only in "specific actions", in gestures or announcements, but in planned, real and effective policies, being necessary "an overview", by the hand of qualified experts, a plan according to the previous analyzes, an adequate regulation and the temporary implementation of active and real policies, underlines.

"The convocation and celebration of the next session of the Sectoral Council for the Promotion of the Historic Center can not be delayed any longer," therefore, Mateos has demanded that the Mayor call him as soon as possible, to analyze and evaluate what has been done since January and to continue proposing alternatives for the recovery of the heart of our city.
