The Minister of Education visits the municipality, whose students have been the last to return to the classrooms, along with those of Calasparra and Pliego
The Community invests more than one million euros in improving the infrastructure of the educational centers of Lorca.
The planned actions are contemplated in the Educational Infrastructure Plan 2018-2019, endowed with 20 million euros, which will allow 116 actions to be undertaken in educational infrastructures of almost all the municipalities of the Region.
The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez-Cachá, stressed that "this is the most ambitious plan of recent years" and stressed that "there is no better investment than that which is destined for education, a true key to change and of the progress of society. "
Between this year and 2019 most of the budget of the Plan will be used to build four new schools in Jumilla, Pliego, Librilla and La Aljorra (in Cartagena), and also a Secondary School, Valle de Leyva, in Alhama de Murcia .
Likewise, 18 extensions will be carried out in educational centers, among them the Juan Navarro school in the Lorca district of La Hoya.
The counselor informed that "the works have already begun in the center, the preparatory works are being carried out and next week the foundation will begin to be carried out".
Martínez-Cachá also recalled that the works have a deadline of six months.
The performances will involve the creation of five new classrooms with their corresponding toilets and a covered porch in the playground area to create a shaded area and protect from rain.
The budget of the work amounts to 518,433 euros.
Regarding the other investments in Lorca, the Minister highlighted the important works carried out in the IES Francisco Ros Giner and José Ibáńez Martín and stressed that one of the gymnasiums of José Ibáńez Martín will also be rehabilitated.
Martínez-Cachá also highlighted the works carried out at the Pilar Soubrier school.
In total, the investment planned in Lorca within the Educational Infrastructure Plan 2018-2019 amounts to 1,094,104 euros.
The counselor made these statements during his visit to Lorca to mark the beginning of the 2018-2019 academic year, where 9,995 students returned to the classroom today.
The school has also started the school of Calasparra (867) and Pliego (344).
In total, 11,206 students have returned to the classroom on Monday.
The students of these municipalities have been the last to start the school year in the Region.
