After the announcement of a new investment of 6.3 million euros for the purchase of two new radiotherapy devices in Arrixaca de Murcia and El Rosell de Cartagena, Sánchez Jódar asks "the unit of Lorca, for when".
Likewise, they ask for explanations for the delays in the implantation of a new CT, a new mammography and the Magnetic Resonance service, still not installed since Amancio Ortega gave them to the Lorca hospital a year ago.
The deputy spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Marisol Sánchez Jódar has once again demanded the creation of a "complete" Oncology Unit in the Rafael Méndez hospital, necessary to match area III with those of Murcia and Cartagena, and above all, with the aim of bringing the patients of Lorca and its region closer to this much-needed service.
Sánchez Jódar describes as "authentic backwardness" that Rafael Méndez does not have a unit of these characteristics, bearing in mind that it is the reference hospital for a population of close to 200,000 patients.
To date, through the oncology outpatient service, only chemotherapy treatments are offered in Lorca through the day hospital.
The lack of this elementary service is only understood by checking the level of "cutrez" to which the PP has condemned Rafael Méndez with his cuts, where for the realization of a simple resonance "patients continue to be referred to Molina de Segura or Cieza. "
In fact, remember that this is why area III continues to be the area from which more patients are referred to other centers in the Region for diagnostic tests.
After the announcement of an investment of 6.3 million euros for the acquisition, installation and commissioning of two new radiotherapy devices, destined for the university clinical hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca and the Santa María de El Rosell university hospital, Sánchez Jódar asks "the unit of Lorca, for when" after the PP promised in 2007 its creation.
The absence of this unit in Rafael Méndez forces patients with cancer in Lorca and other municipalities in area III who need radiotherapy treatment to perform, almost daily, "long and expensive trips" to Murcia "whose annoyances only know who , patients and relatives, suffer from this situation "of which" clearly, the Popular Party is insensitive and does not care. "
"Lorca who need these treatments are forced to travel between 140 and 200 kilometers a day, depending on whether they have to go to Murcia or Cartagena," he adds.
Sánchez Jódar recalls that in 2007 the PP called for the vote and confidence of Lorca by promising an Oncology Unit in Lorca that, eleven years later, it has become abundantly clear that "it was an electoral promise of the PP made on the suffering of the people and relatives who suffer from this disease. "
"Neither ruling the PP in Lorca and Murcia, not even having a President and several Lorca advisers, have managed to materialize this commitment."
Moreover, "it was during the years of the Popular Party that we witnessed the collapse of health services in area III".
For that reason, he assures that it is evident, and the Lorca are witnesses of it, that the Popular Party is neither trained nor legitimized to continue representing the Lorca.
"The policy of the cobblestone and huge sidewalks without shaft does not improve the lives of Lorca"
The mayor has again asked Gil Jódar to "espabile" to the abuses with which the Regional Government of the Popular Party continues to mistreat area III health and despising their patients.
"Gil Jódar still does not understand that only by putting cobblestones on all sides and making giant sidewalks without a shaft eliminating parking spaces, you can not improve the lives of people, so what do you expect to demand from López Miras the improvements needed by the Rafael Méndez ".
In this sense, Marisol Sánchez recalls that the installation of a new TAC is still pending, as well as a new mammogram and the much-needed magnetic resonance service, promised more than a year ago, since they were given by the Amancio Ortega Foundation to the Autonomous Community, to the Rafael Méndez de Lorca hospital.
"Rafael Méndez must be one of the few general hospitals in the country that does not have such an elementary service as magnetic resonance."
"In the PSOE, we have clear priorities for Lorca and this is one of them.It is fundamental for the health and dignity of the patients in area III of health, along with the extension of the public parking of Rafael Méndez, the installation of the necessary equipment, the hiring of sufficient personnel to reach the recommended ratios and reduce waiting times, and the creation of an Oncology Unit are indispensable commitments for the PSOE ".
"September has already started and the maternity facility is still closed"
Marisol Sanchez stressed that Lorca will remember the response that, a few weeks ago, had Mrs. Lorenzo, placed by the PP at the head of the area III health management, following our complaint about the closure of plants in Rafael Méndez.
The manager of area III assured that the maternity plant would be ready at the beginning of September.
Well, the mayor recalls that "September has arrived, and the plant is still under construction" so they ask Mrs. Lorenzo that, since she has not been able to meet the deadlines to minimize the inconvenience to patients and prevent it from being closed the shortest possible time, do not continue delaying the completion of these works.
Since the pressure of the PSOE was able to reopen this summer half of specialties plant, they hope that again this public denunciation take effect and get accelerate the reopening of this plant and making available the number of beds that have been without power for months be used despite the lack they make.
