Basketball is one of the sports with greater pull in the national scene, also in the regional scope and, of course, in the local.
Therefore, its presence in each edition of Guadalentín Sports Games is notable for the amount of quality tests offered both to play and to watch big games.
Saturday was a full basketball day thanks to the agenda prepared by the Eliocroca Sports Association consisting of a mini basketball coexistence for the youngest and two friendly matches for the adult categories that allowed us to verify the good moment that the local basketball lives.
The Felipe VI Sports Complex hosted this program that began at 10 am with the popular concentration of mini-basketball.
The objective of this event was to promote a coexistence among the youngest players, with the celebration of 3x3 and 5x5 tournaments.
However, the heavy rains in the city caused the participation to be less than expected.
Despite this 18 base players joined the event, a league with 4 teams in which the participants were mixed, allowing young and old to live together and even learn from each other in a morning enriching sports for all its participants.
The afternoon did not want to be behind and for that two senior category matches were held to round off the day.
The first of them, disputed at 5:00 pm, faced the women's senior teams of Eliocroca and Maristas de Cartagena.
It was an equal match, resolved in the end with a narrow victory of the locals by 57 to 56, which attests to the effort of both teams to take the victory in the clash.
At 7.30 pm, the second match began, in which the Eliocroca senior players met the Begastri ceheginero team.
Again the victory stayed at home, since the local players managed to prevail by 71 to 66 in the final score of the match.
The basket will return to the agenda of the Games on Saturday 22 with the celebration of the IV City of Lorca Tournament.
