The Autonomous Community has integrated the Local Police of Lorca into the emergency digital network of the Autonomous Community (Radiecarm network), a telecommunications infrastructure that the regional government places at the service of all the security and emergency organisms implanted in the Region.
The counselor of the Presidency, Pedro Rivera, explained today in his visit to the town that the Radiecarm network "allows to ensure the radiocommunications of the integrated emergency services, both in the management of ordinary emergencies and in situations of extraordinary emergencies and catastrophes" .
It is a public network, operated and maintained by the Community and independent of the commercial networks of private telecommunications operators, which is specifically designed to guarantee communications against critical mission situations.
"With it, the police of Lorca can have access to messaging services at their terminals and use GPS tracking applications to consult on the map the exact position of the incidents and those who come to attend them," said Rivera.
As an example of the service provided by the network in case of disasters, the Minister of the Presidency recalled that "it allowed to ensure communication to emergency services after the earthquakes that occurred in Lorca on May 11, 2011 and, thanks to it, the services of intervention and assistance could be coordinated effectively. "
Rivera reaffirmed "the commitment of the regional government to citizen security and effective attention to emergencies," and underscored the fact that the Community contributes annually to the support of the Local Police of Lorca with 1.2 million euros.
The Local Police of Lorca, by being part of this network, will be able to communicate with other integrated security and emergency services, dependent both on their own municipality and on other administrations, such as the Fire and Rescue Extinction Consortium of the Autonomous Community, the Forest Fire Defense Unit of the General Directorate of Environment, Health Emergency Management 061 Murcia Health Service, Spanish Red Cross, and Local Police and Civil Protection services of many municipalities.
The Radiecarm network provides service to a collective of 3,000 users of different competent bodies in the field of security and emergencies and has meant for the Autonomous Community, throughout its ten years of operation, an investment of 9 million euros.
