Citizens will present a motion at the next plenary session in September for the City Council to study the possibility of installing vertical jets in the existing parks and squares of Lorca and those that will be created next.
Antonio Meca explains that the installation of a plate of jets of water from the ground "would be an excellent contribution to combat temperatures, while adding an additional attraction for small users, who often have no possibility to enjoy swimming pools or beaches. "
The system we are dealing with can not be simpler: intermittent water that comes out of small holes in the pavement, that is, they are at ground level, lacking architectural barriers, and whose jets of water arise from the same upwards.
"These sources, which invite you to cool off in the street to alleviate the suffocating heat in summer, are not only a pragmatic way to decorate the streets of the city, but are also an alternative to spend your free time without leaving the urban area, creating around a fresh environment and a refreshing vision "adds the Councilman.
The operation of these facilities is very economical and the water is not wasted since the circuit that uses this type of sources is closed, "that means that the water we see is constantly recycled".
They have a cistern where the water comes from the network, that water fills the cistern and recirculates by pumping, then passes through a filtering system of different layers and recirculates.
This type of sources have already been installed throughout Spain: Madrid, Cordoba, Vitoria, Zaragoza, Seville, Malaga, etc, constituting a tourist attraction, leisure and fun.
"In the squares, gardens and parks of the urban area and the districts, would be extremely attractive and enjoyable for the population."
