"We will ask in full that the Autonomous Community is required to budget the development of this Law," says local spokesman, Antonio Meca
Citizens will present a motion in the next plenary session on the Law for the Protection and Defense of Companion Animals, which came into force last November. This same month, Ciudadanos has registered an interpellation in the Regional Assembly in which it accuses the regional government of laziness in the development of the law by not implementing nor its regulation or the Interdepartmental Commission for Animal Protection and Defense. Antonio Meca, spokesman for the municipal group of Cs, explained that "although we now have a regulatory framework , the problem is that this can not be left only in a mere declaration of intentions ".
In his opinion, "a law should be accompanied by financial support and proceed with the articles of the same, especially when it commits and delegates many of the powers in the municipalities."
The mayor wants with this motion "to urge the government team to transfer to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water the urgent need for the development and approval of the regulatory development of this Act and to enable a budget heading to co-finance the costs arising from the obligations imposed by the regulations on the town councils "
