Adoración Peñas, councilor of Izquierda Unida Verdes in the municipality of Lorca, has presented this morning the motion that will lead to Plenary, which will seek the support of other municipal groups to promote local writers and poets exposing fragments of his works and poems in significant corners of the public spaces of Lorca.
With this, it is intended to make known among its citizens and those who visit Lorca its most illustrious people in the field of culture, linking literature to the city.
Peñas recalled that in 1997, thanks to a request from IU, a ceramic pottery was entrusted to a local ceramic artist that included the poem that the poet Carlos Mellado dedicated to the Plaza del Negrito de Lorca, for its subsequent placement in that same plaza, taking advantage of the exterior walls of the convent of San Francisco.
The mural was never placed and still waits in said pottery to be picked up.
Besides Mellado, other local poets have written verses dedicated to our city, its realities and its corners, such as Eliodoro Puche or Atanasio López Pascual, but this initiative is also open to other Lorca poets and literati and to the participation of the cultural associations of Lorca. without a doubt they could enrich both the list of poets, as well as the poems selected to be placed in the corners of Lorca that are determined.
The other part of the proposal that is carried in the motion is to promote the local potters by commissioning them the ceramic murals of the chosen poems.
It would try to do something similar to what other neighboring cities have done, such as Totana, which some time ago gathered all their potters to order the entire set of plates that designate the streets of that town.
The agreement of the motion to be approved in Plenary is as follows:
"The City of Lorca, through the Department of Culture and counting on the criteria of the most significant cultural associations and related to the world of literature, will make a selection of local poets and poems to translate them into ceramic murals commissioned to all and Each of the existing pottery workshops in Lorca, the murals will be located in strategic corners of the city, creating in this way a kind of literary route of Lorca, immediately placing Carlos Mellado's poem in the Plaza del Negrito. cited in the body of the motion.
