The Government Team presents a motion demanding that the government of Pedro Sánchez not penalize citizens by applying this tax increase, and that bet to encourage the gradual renewal of the car fleet in the country.
The councilman of Economy and Finance in the City of Lorca, Juan Francisco Martínez, has indicated that the imposition of the current central government to penalize with a tax increase to vehicles that use diesel fuel would condemn the Lorca taxpayers of nearly 44,000 vehicles to have I pay more each month to be able to use them.
That is why we are going to present a motion to demand that the Government of Spain cease its intention to increase the taxation of diesel and work on a program of subsidies for the replacement only of diesel engines that, unlike the current ones, are more pollutants than gasoline.
Martínez Carrasco said that, according to the figures already hinted at by the current government, in 2019 we would see a rise in taxes on diesel fuel around 4 cents per liter refueled.
A rise that would be repeated annually, over the next four years, until getting the taxes assumed by diesel to reach 40.25 cents per liter refueled, the tax now assumed for gasoline, and well above 30 , 7 cents per refilled liter with which gas oil is currently taxed.
In these months the sales of diesel vehicles have fallen by 45% compared to the data of the previous year.
The professionals of the automotive sector attribute this significant reduction to the resounding statements of the Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, in which she said that "diesel has its days numbered".
It should be noted that in recent years the entrepreneurs in the sector have bet on their strategy and investment in R & D & I in getting diesel engines, leaders in efficiency compared to the rest of the internal combustion, are less polluting than gasoline , and that today is a reality.
Diesel is the most efficient fuel with the lowest CO2 emissions.
The problem is the diesel engines that already accumulate decades of operation.
Some statements that have not only generated alarm in the 800 professionals of the automotive sector of our municipality, but also will have a negative impact on the pocket of thousands of Lorca who have a diesel vehicle or in their home have a boiler fueled by this type of fuel, as well as the vast majority of the 7,000 autonomous according to the latest official data, in the 562 companies linked to the transport of passengers and goods or in the more than 30 taxi drivers who have their license in Lorca and neither we must forget.
All this in an economic context of economic slowdown as has also been recognized by the socialist government itself.
We must also highlight the serious consequences that this fact will produce in the agri-food sector, the fundamental engine of our economy, on which thousands of direct and indirect jobs depend, which in merchandise transport companies is its main ally in making its product beyond our borders from a geographical location located in the periphery of the Spanish southeast.
