The Councilor for Tourism of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, reported on the celebration tomorrow, Thursday, September 27, World Tourism Day, an event to which Lorca adheres one more year.
The mayor said that "as usual, and almost always coinciding with the Lorca Fair, comes the annual and global celebration of the tourism sector, a sector that in Lorca increasingly has relevance, as evidenced by the increase 35.2% of visitors to the city between the months of July and August of this year.WTO, World Tourism Organization, under the theme "Tourism and Digital Transformation", has placed the emphasis this year on "Maintenance of a continuous and inclusive growth of the tourism sector, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, which demands a better understanding of the growing economic, social and environmental repercussions of technology and innovation in tourism "".
Lorca joins the celebration of World Tourism Day with a free guided tour on Thursday September 27 at 11.30 from the Plaza de España called "Guided Visit to the Old Collegiate Church of San Patricio and the Three Plazas."
It consists of a walk through the Old Quarter of Lorca, declared Historic Artistic Site since 1964, by a guide that will discover the visitor the Plaza de España and the excolegiata of San Patricio, as well as the Plaza del Caño, with the Pósito and the Casa del Corregidor, and the Plaza de las Barandillas from where you can contemplate the change between the medieval Lorca and the current Lorca.
