The mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has reported that, responding to what was decreed by the Mayor's Office, the Local Police is intensifying its regular work in the area of ​​San Cristóbal, which, in addition to the usual daily checks carried out as part of the usual work of the agents, have included the establishment of a patrol on foot through the neighborhood every day, both in the mornings and in the evenings, providing special service to citizens, neighbors and merchants until 22:00 h , once the usual closing hours of establishments and businesses in the area have been exceeded.
The mayor explained that this work will continue to be carried out from now on, joining the usual tasks carried out by the UPROL and UAP units, establishing vehicle controls and the identification of people on an ongoing basis.
In fact, over the last few weeks a special chain of controls has been set up, both on the main and adjacent streets, with the arrest of several people, the interception of vehicles, the seizure of small amounts of narcotics and the immobilization of automobiles for infringing maintenance regulations, or because drivers lack the necessary permits.
Fulgencio Gil has indicated that this work aims to contribute to the safety of the residents of the area, being preventive and deterrent in order to avoid a hypothetical commission of infractions.
The greater visibility of the local police in the neighborhood will be a constant, and from the City Council we encourage all residents to contact our agents in case of any eventuality that could be observed, as it would achieve greater efficiency and immediacy in case precise.
The controls, therefore, will continue and will be constant, emphasizing neighborhood coordination with the actions of our local police.
The mayor has indicated that the tasks of the Local Police are also implementing controls on a regular basis in several areas of the urban area with patrol on foot, with special attention to enclaves on which there are requests from residents and traders, as has been the case of the Plaza de Doña Concha Sandoval, where the identification and control of people is proceeding.
We can point out that 5 daily controls are being developed by the UPROL unit, to which another is added by the agents of the UAP, as well as other 3 controls included in the usual services of the staff of the Local Police.
Fulgencio Gil thanked the work that the agents are doing, which is contributing in a remarkable way to increase the sense of security of the neighbors, as well as the magnificent coordination that exists also with the members of other bodies and security forces of the State that provide service in our municipal area.
