True to its annual appointment, chess this weekend arrived at its appointment with the Guadalentín Sports Games program, which, as in previous years, was again doubled to offer both a competition for local and regional chess players, as well as a showcase to publicize a sport so beneficial to the minds of its players.
On Friday afternoon, the traditional simultaneous game that brings chess to the street was played so that experts and fans could enjoy their favorite sport in an exceptional setting such as the Plaza de Colón in full celebration of the Feria de Lorca.
All this with a unique challenge: to face a great International Master like the Argentine Alfredo Giaccio, professor of the Chess Club of Lorca, and who faced at the same time against up to 15 players, the games happening for almost two hours.
It seems that the day came to the Grand Master, since the next day would also be imposed in the general classification of the Tournament.
And it was that on Saturday morning came the second of the activities: the Fast Chess Tournament that every year brings together dozens of players from throughout the Region of Murcia to contest this famed event.
Once again, the Parque Almenara Shopping Center hosted the event, which took place between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and offered countless games under the Swiss system for 6 rounds, with the participation of 90 players.
