David Romera denounces the bad planning in the distribution and putting into operation of the buried containers in Lorca, since of the 54 islets installed in the city, ten with more than 35 containers do not work, either because their bad location prevents the trucks collectors access them or because they do not have an electricity supply.
On the other hand, they highlight the lack of solutions to containers located in the Historic District.
The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, David Romera, has denounced the "erratic policy" that has been practicing for years the PP Government team in planning, distribution and use of containers buried in Lorca, when it comes to of an expensive service both in its installation and maintenance.
He has informed that currently in the municipality there are 54 islets, all of them concentrated in the city and one in the core of La Paca, of which ten do not work, which suppose more than 35 containers without service, either for the garbage deposit organic or for the selective collection of waste.
This is, according Romera, "the erratic policy of the PP in the planning, distribution and use of buried containers, because there are more than 35 containers that do not work, or because they have been poorly placed in narrow streets for which they do not catch and they can not maneuver the waste collection trucks, either because there are cables that cross the streets that prevent the handling of the cranes of these trucks, or because they do not have an electricity supply ".
As they point out, each island of these characteristics would cost around 15,000 to 20,000 euros for its installation, and between 69,000 and 70,000 euros of supply.
The socialist mayor put as a most significant example the two islets of underground containers installed in the neighborhood of San Juan (streets Corta and San Jorge), provided with three containers of organic waste and other three selective collection, "which are sealed because they are useless because the waste can not be evacuated. "
These containers had to be rendered useless due to the bad planning that was carried out when installing them in an area of narrow streets where the waste collection trucks can not access or maneuver due to lack of space, in the same way that they were not claimed by the neighbors, considering this operation as "an expensive and useless expense taking into account the high cost involved in the acquisition, installation and maintenance of these containers."
While this occurs, "there are many containers without burying in other emblematic places of Lorca, such as those located in the Glorieta de San Vicente, enclosed in a cage that generates great visual impact and has become a dirty space.
But those in San Juan are not the only underground containers that do not work.
There are also unused containers (sealed or locked with padlocks) in Juan de Toledo Street, in the historic center of the city;
in San Lázaro, in Los Albaricos;
and on Calvary, on Second Fall Street.
Another case "especially problematic" for the concentration of containers is that of the Volunteers street in the San Diego neighborhood, where there are two islets with six underground units that do not work, being replaced by other containers on the surface that generate discomfort to neighbors as bad odors or insalubrity despite having been opened almost three years along with the urban regeneration works carried out in San Diego.
In addition to a bad location, the main problem with these containers is the lack of electricity supply, so they should have installed containers with a functioning hydraulic system that gives them more autonomy, such as those recently installed on Avenida Juan Carlos I, which They work from the first day with total normality.
This situation contrasts with the requests made by neighborhood collectives such as the Ramblilla de Tejares that requested the burial of the containers, perfectly viable for reasons of space or more buried containers in San Diego, and were rejected.
That is to say, "in places where it is impossible to collect the waste these containers are placed, and in others perfectly viable at the request of the neighbors, they are rejected", which constitutes nonsense.
