Fulgencio Gil attended the inauguration of the Bethlehem prepared by the educational community of the San Fernando school "the center where my children have studied and whose birth I feel especially proud."
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the director of the San Fernando school, Ginesa Marín, inaugurated this morning the Bethlehem of the center, which has been installed and assembled by the educational community of the school itself, following a tradition sustained in the time for decades.
The Mayor has stressed that all Lorca, especially our children, have to know and respect our most deeply rooted traditions, as is the case of our Nativity Scenes, a symbol of our beliefs, grounded in education and respect, from peace and freedom.
We consider that the presence of our historical identity signs as a people, and in this case in particular the nativity scenes, in educational centers is a very positive element.
We enjoy a material and immaterial legacy that goes back centuries, and that speaks of forgiveness, joy and love of neighbor.
We are talking about educating in values, of transmitting and spreading to society as a whole what is really ours.
It is a heritage of incalculable value that passes from generation to generation, and of which we can feel very proud, while we want to continue promoting.
Fulgencio Gil has said that we began the cycle of our popular Christmas traditions.
This Bethlehem in particular has a special significance for me because it is the one I have been able to enjoy for many years when it comes to the school of my children.
That is why I know the educational community and it is an honor that it is the first of this year.
Lorca are inheritors of a rich tradition of Nativity, in fact last week we had the opportunity to open the Bethlehem that has been installed by the Lorca Belenista Association in the Palacio de San Esteban, seat of the Regional Government, and that constitutes a honor for our municipality.
The mayor has encouraged all Lorca to promote the spirit of Christmas, reflected in the family tradition and craft of our nativity scenes, clear example of a people who protect their culture and beliefs.
It is about ours, a part of the collective imagination of our society that has helped to materialize the character of Lorca through an artisan expression of maximum relevance.
