The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare of the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, reported this morning that the Lorca Consistory has invested almost 13,000 euros in Municipal Center for Child Development and Early Care Lorca "Fina Navarro López" for the acquisition of new material for the attention to children with special needs that are treated in this center.
Fátima Mínguez has indicated that "the CDIAT de Lorca, dependent of the Department of Family and Social Welfare, provides a specialized service to children aged 0 to 6 years who have alterations in their development or are at risk of suffering at a bio-psychological level or socio-environmental For this reason, children with these characteristics need to be treated with a specific and varied material so that the attention given to them is of quality ".

Fátima Mínguez recalled that "the Early Care Center of Lorca has 14 professionals including a social worker, psychologists, physiotherapists, speech therapists and technicians in early care (stimulators) that serve a large population of children with various disorders in their development or at risk of suffering such as premature babies (born before 37 weeks of gestation), children with high or low prevalence syndromes (Down, Williams, ...), motor disorders (Brachial palsy, cerebral palsy, delays motors, ...), children in situations of socio-environmental risk or with symptoms of the autistic spectrum (ASD), or children with sensory impairment, maturational and psychomotor delay ".
It should be remembered that the center was equipped with new and modern facilities in 2013, with a total constructed area of ​​461 m2 on the ground floor with reception area, 13 rooms and classrooms for children in areas such as stimulation, speech therapy, physiotherapy, psychomotricity, research, assessment, stimulation, meeting room, room for attention to parents and administration areas. In addition, it has a multisensory room with state-of-the-art resources that allow to work on sensory stimuli, enhancing and developing touch, hearing or vision.
This room has a water bed, bubble tube, fiber optic tubes, stereo and touch screen.
