The Councilor for Culture of the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, announced that the excolegiata of San Patricio will host this Sunday, December 9, at 7 pm, a concert by the Youth Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, who will perform a selection of Handel's Messiah.

The OJRM is a training project for young instrumentalists sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of the CARM, through which hundreds of musicians have passed.
The Orchestra has performed in the best halls of Andalusia, Madrid, Castilla la Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura, as well as on numerous tours of Europe.
Its director, Virginia Martínez, graduated in Vienna with orchestral conducting with honors, special mention, having directed several orchestras and being currently the titular director of the OJRM, as well as the principal and artistic director of the Symphony Orchestra of the Region. of Murcia.
Jorge Losana graduated in choral conducting from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia and is currently the principal conductor of the Choir and Orchestra of the University of Murcia, the Early Music Project collective and the vocal Ensemble Cantoria.
As for the work, we must remember that Handel's Messiah premiered on April 12, 1742 at the Neal's Music Hall in Ireland being a total success that was later supported in London by King George II.
The script was compiled by Charles Jennes with fragments of verses from the King James Bible.
The first part of the work has the theme of Advent and Christmas and is based on the Book of Isaiah and quotes from the Gospels of Luke, Matthew and John.
The second part illustrates the Passion, Resurrection and Ascension and also includes passages from the Gospels and the prophecies of Isaiah, finished with the well-known Alleluia taken from the Apocalypse of Saint John.
The third section recounts Christ's victory over death and the Last Judgment, including quotations from the Book of Job and from the first Letter to the Corinthians of St. Paul.
