Mateos: "It is a real shame how the sports facilities of La Torrecilla are, a complex that cost so much to raise, that has given us so many good times to Lorca, and see that it has been completely abandoned for so many years, at the mercy of only the attention and the good daily care of the concierge, gardening and maintenance staff. Diego José Mateos claims the recovery of this Sports Complex and recalls that it was one of the infrastructures that suffered most from the effects of the fateful earthquakes of May 2011, since the physical damage is compounded by the wear and tear of having housed the camp to attend to the victims

The candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has once again claimed the full recovery of the Sports City of La Torrecilla, whose facilities are very deteriorated.

"It is a real pity to see the state in which this Sports Complex is located, which in its time meant a before and after for the sport not only Lorca, but also regional, regional and national."

Mateos recalled that the Sports City of La Torrecilla was one of the infrastructures that most severely suffered the consequences and the effects of the fateful earthquakes of May 2011, because the material damage and the deterioration of the years is compounded by the "Weakness" of having sheltered the camp for the victims for months.

So much so, recalls the spokesman of the PSOE, that years ago its remodeling was announced with charge to the Regional Budgets, in particular, through a project that the Popular Party presented and that reached 5 million euros.

"We do not know where those 5 million euros have gone, but the reality is that for the second consecutive year they have flown from the regional budgets of the Popular Party."

Mateos has specified that the now councilor of economy and then Finance, Mr. Martinez Carrasco promised a game of 5 million euros from the loan of the European Bank, granted for the recovery of the city after the earthquakes, to undertake this remodeling.

"The Mayor and his councilman will have to explain to Lorca where those 5 million people are or what they have been doing to let them lose."

To demand that they rectify, the PSOE has registered in the Regional Assembly an amendment to the Regional Budgets to request that those 5 million euros be considered again.

"What Gil Jódar has to do now is to demand that his comrades in the Assembly vote for us to recover the 5 million that were contemplated and that have disappeared."

"The Popular Party has gone from announcing its remodeling to a big drum, to leave completely aside these sports facilities that must not be forgotten are demanded daily by many Lorca, and that I am convinced could host a greater number of regional competitions and regional if the state of conservation were another, "he says.

The tennis courts, the velodrome, toilets and changing rooms or the World 82 stadium itself "are not for more patches, its integral remodeling is urgent and necessary".

To date, only very specific and isolated actions have been carried out for its improvement.

In addition to its integral recovery, Mateos has proposed the placement of a sound barrier to reduce the impact of the sound of the vehicles of the A-7 motorway at the height of the sports complex.
