It is an event included in the wide program of Christmas events that takes place in our town, and includes the visit of the Paje de los Reyes Magos, Thanksgiving Masses, children's concerts, gastronomic tastings and performances.
The Councilor for Commerce in the City of Lorca, María del Carmen Ruiz, along with the President of the Association of Neighbors of the Virgen de las Huertas, Luís González, and the temple priest, Miguel Ángel Alarcón, reported this morning of the celebration of the Christmas Market that will be developed in this popular neighborhood of Lorca between December 20 and 23 with the participation of 40 positions, taking as one of the most significant enclaves of our city, such as the Plaza del Rey Sabio.
The mayor of Commerce has indicated that the program offered by the City Council in our town for these dates, which began yesterday with the traditional opening of the Christmas Campus, has as main objective to contribute to the social and cultural dynamization of Lorca during these dates, moving to our streets and squares a festive atmosphere thanks to the celebration of a wide and diversified range of events.
María del Carmen Ruiz has pointed out that Lorca enjoy a Christmas tradition that is part of our idiosyncrasy, our culture and heritage.
We are talking about parties that invite to be shared with our families, with meetings in which we meet our loved ones, sometimes after a long time without seeing them.
Christmas is a festivity very much ours, of which we can feel proud, which is part of the root of Lorca, with its traditional Christmas carols, nativity scenes, its gastronomy, religious celebrations, the birth of Christ and the welcome to a new year, besides the arrival of the Magi.
It is about a few days to believe in the illusion, especially the one of the smallest of each house, and to be in solidarity with everyone.
Jódar Ruiz explained that this Thursday will proceed to the opening of the Market at 18:30 h.
Then, around 7:00 a Mass of Thanksgiving will take place in the patron saint temple of the Virgen de las Huertas, and the benediction of the Bethlehem installed in the Social Center of the neighborhood will also proceed.
For the days of Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the visit of the Royal Paje, emissary of Their Majesties The Three Wise Men of the East, which will collect all the letters that the smallest of the house want to give with their requests for the Day of Kings, an act that will have a biscuit or donuts with chocolate between 20:00 and 21:00 h.
On Friday, September 21 at 7:00 pm, a Christmas Mass will be celebrated, and at 7:30 pm all those attending the Market will have the opportunity to enjoy an extraordinary recreation of the Living Bethlehem that will be held by the group of choirs and dances Virgen de the Huertas.
Half an hour later, at 8:00 pm, there will be a Christmas concert by the School of Folklore of the same group of Choirs and Dances, which will be accompanied by the catechetical students of 1st communion of the patron sanctuary.
The acts of Friday will conclude with a performance of Carmen Franco's GYM at 9:00 p.m.
On Saturday 22 a Mass is planned for the benefit of Cáritas, an act previous to the traditional cante de Pascuas by the Virgen de las Huertas Choirs and Dances.
For Sunday, at 7:00 p.m., a Mass for the Church has been scheduled, with the typical Easter Lorca and Aguilando closing.
It should be noted that during these days will be enabled a space to help with the collection of food for the benefit of Cáritas that will be located in the Social Center of the neighborhood, as well as in the Employer Sanctuary.
This event is developed thanks to the collaboration of the Associations of Neighbors and Women of the Virgen de las Huertas, together with the Parish of the neighborhood, the group of Dance Choirs, Carmen Franco GYMDANCE, Black Dragon shows and the City Council of our city through the Department of Commerce.
