The Technical Association for Waste Management, Urban Cleaning and Environment (Ategrus) highlights the work done by the quality on the beach, from the environmental, tourism and sustainability point of view.
The Councilor for the Environment in the City of Lorca, Satur Martinez, reported that Cala de Calnegre has renewed the Ecoplaya Flag, a decision that has been officially announced to the Lorca Consistory a few days ago.
It is an acknowledgment that has been possible thanks to the continuous commitment to improving quality in this wonderful Lorca natural enclave and the special contributions and commitment of the residents of the area.
The mayor of Environment has indicated that Cala de Calnegre lorquina achieved this distinction for the first time in 2013, and we have managed to revalidate it in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. This award is an acknowledgment to the municipality for its work for quality of its beaches from the environmental, tourism and sustainability point of view, with the aim of spreading its efforts, innovations and achievements.
For the award of the Ecoplayas Flag, a global technical vision of all aspects of the beach is taken into account, such as sand, water quality, specialized certifications, erosion control, as well as standardization and accessibility for people with reduced mobility, among other factors.
It is a label awarded by the Technical Association for Waste Management, Urban Cleaning and the Environment (Ategrus) ".
Satur Martinez has stressed that there is a great work in this regard developed by the Commission for Beach Management, which is formed by the Department of Tourism, Environment, Urban Planning, Health, Emergencies, Lorca and LIMUSA.
Thanks to this collective work, the Lorca coast has achieved excellence in terms of maintaining them.
We have to be proud because we recognize at all levels what Lorca knew: that Cala de Calnegre is an exceptional place to enjoy the environment, the sea and tourism.
From the City Council we hope that these awards contribute to visitors from the Spanish Levante approach the miles of the splendid unspoiled coastline of Lorca and enjoy a unique space, which allows quality tourism in the districts of the south of the municipality.
In fact, in 2018, and for the second consecutive year, the Blue Flag flies in the municipality of Lorca, demonstrating that its achievement was not the result of chance but rather the response to the quality of the coastline and the work carried out to comply with the necessary parameters for its concession by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
Beaches for families, pets and naturism.
Satur Martinez recalled that the Municipal Ordinance regulating the correct use of the beaches of the coast is the first document in this sense approved by the local administration in the history of the municipality.
It is a text that includes, among other issues, the establishment of zones for the practice of nudism and for the presence of pets.
In the first case, the designated cove is La Junquera, while in the second it has been Playa Larga.
We are talking about a flexible document that we wanted to be "the Ordinance of all", incorporating the contributions of citizens.
The municipal text orders the use of the beaches of the Lorca littoral.
The City Council incorporated into this Ordinance the authorization of spaces for the practice of naturism and the presence of pets, respecting the environmental protection criteria established for the Lorca beaches as a natural park.
Lorca has a stretch of coastline that extends over 9 km composed of 13 beaches: Playa Larga, Cala Blanca, Playa de los Hierros, Cala Leña, Cala de la Gruta, Playa Junquera, Playa del Cuartel del Ciscar, Cala Honda, San Pedro Beach, Siscal Beach, Baño de las Mujeres Beach, Calnegre Beach and Puntes de Calnegre Beach.
