The PSOEdenounces the numerous obstacles that hinder the use of the "discontinuous" network of bike lanes in the municipality: "In some sections, it is a real circular hazard because obstacles, fences, sewer records and no signaling are continuous, hindering the passage of cyclists "
The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Antonio Navarro has claimed to be "cleared" of obstacles to the bike lanes of the municipality.
"In some sections, as for example, in the district of Cazalla, obstacles that hinder and endanger the safe passage of our cyclists are continuous".
"It is another example of the abandonment suffered by public services, especially in districts."
Navarro has asked the councilor responsible in the City of Lorca "measures of maintenance and adequacy of the bike lanes of the municipality."
"It's shameful, because we're talking about a public danger, the amount of obstacles that there are in the network, to call it in some way, of bike lanes there."
In this way, Navarro denounced this morning, after the call of neighbors and users who use the lane that runs through Tiata and Cazalla, the plague of obstacles that "hinder and put danger" the passage of cyclists.
"Fallen fences, potholes, fallen signs, even sewer records ...", he detailed.
In addition, the PSOE has again requested the improvement of signage on the roads most frequented by cyclists, with the installation of signs that remind the obligation to leave a margin of 1.50 meters between the vehicle and the bicycle when overtaking .
"The City of Lorca must be sensitive, and be the first aware, in the need to improve the safety of users who choose this public transport, or this sport in their free time."
The councilor of the PSOE returned to transfer these requests, which repeatedly has been made from the LorcaBiciudad Association to successive general managers of roads without ever being served, with the aim of "improving the safety of cyclists."
"The installation of signs reminiscent of the mandatory distances between vehicle and bicycle during overtaking is still necessary, one of the main demands of the group of cyclists.
Navarro stressed that in the municipality of Lorca there is a lot of love for this sport and that it is common to see our network of roads throughout the length and breadth of our municipal district, especially on weekends, called by the uniqueness and attractiveness of our landscapes.
From the PSOE insist on making an appeal to the awareness of drivers about the fragility of the cyclist, for which it believes convenient "greater support" by the Administration, the first step being the review and placement of this type of signaling. It would be convenient to develop local awareness campaigns, issuing messages of support to this means of transport and sport that in itself is not dangerous, but looking for the "horizon of zero victims".
