The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the Episcopal Vicar of the Pastoral Zone of Lorca, Francisco Fructuoso Andrés, the parish priest of the Patronal Shrine of the Virgen de las Huertas, Miguel Ángel Alarcón, and the President of the Brotherhood, Isabel Giménez, have presented the poster of the Jubilee Time granted by the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena on the occasion of the celebration this year of the 75th anniversary of the Canonical Coronation of the Patron Saint of Lorca, the Virgen de las Huertas.

The Mayor has encouraged "Lorca, collectives, services and everyone to join forces so that Jubilee Time becomes a factor of dynamism in all areas, making Lorca and its heritage and faith the best of the attractions for that friends and visitors have the opportunity to know the legacy of stone and feeling of this great city. "

The celebration of the Jubilee Time with the concession of Plenary Indulgence will have its opening on March 17, when the Virgin will receive the mantle given by the Consistory.

This date is full of symbolism, since it commemorates the anniversary of the Battle of the Alporchones on March 17, 1452, one of the most outstanding weapons events in the history of the municipality and in which, according to the legend, the Lorca soldiers were entrusted once again to the Virgen de las Huertas to win the battle against the invading troops.

The Jubilee will also take place every Sunday of the month of May, on September 8, on the occasion of the celebration of the feast of the Virgen de las Huertas, on November 26, which commemorates the anniversary of the canonical coronation of the Employer lorquina, and will end on March 22, 2020.

Among the cultural and religious activities to be held to commemorate the anniversary is the celebration of a gathering of Brotherhoods of Glory of the entire Diocese of Cartagena, which will bring together dozens of Murcian religious fraternities.
