The candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has shown his satisfaction after knowing the progress that the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (CHS) transmitted this morning to representatives of the Platform of Affected by the Floods of Lorca, whom the President of the organization of basin, Mario Urrea, has moved his proposal to channel runoff waters, designed to reduce the problems of waterlogging in case of torrential rains in the Guadalentín.

Mateos stressed that once again, it is clear that "there has had to be a change in the Government of Spain so that after six long years of paralysis, zero initiatives, solutions are undertaken according to the requests made by those affected "

"In eight months has advanced what the previous administration was unable to do for six years," warned Mateos, who however, says, that the PSOE Lorca will remain "extremely vigilant" to ensure compliance with these actions, and that is done according to the recommendations of those directly affected.

However, he assures, "it is important to highlight the sensitivity and commitment of the current government, and therefore, of the current direction of the CHS".

We are facing very good news for the residents of the districts affected, and for the population as a whole, both for this proposal to channel the runoff waters, which would help to alleviate the recurring problems suffered in the Lorca field every time there are heavy precipitations, such as the advances in the processing status of the tenders for the pre-projects of the rolling dams of Nogalte, Béjar and La Torrecilla.

Project, the latter, which was promoted with the entry of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, thanks to the commitment of Diego Conesa, since until then "not a single paper had been moved" by the previous administration, remembers Mateos.

"In six years they did not do anything, the current management has had to start from scratch," he adds.
