The parish sanctuary of Our Lady of the Royal Gardens of Lorca began yesterday a Jubilee Time granted by the Bishop of Cartagena on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the canonical coronation of the patron saint of the city.
Mons. José Manuel Lorca Plans presided over the opening Eucharist, in which he invited Lorca to live this time "as an opportunity to serve God in the brothers".
The Bishop reminded those present that "a Jubilee is coupled to a closeness to the other.
Faith carries with it social implications and it is not understood if it is not by living it in charity ".
That is why he pointed to the Virgen de las Huertas, patron saint of Lorca, as an example: "who better than the Virgin Mary to teach us to live this dedication to others, in his invocation of the Virgen de las Huertas".
At the end of the Eucharist, the Bishop asked the parish priest of the sanctuary, Miguel Ángel Alarcón, to take care of the faithful who come to him during this time of grace, taking them to the Lord.
He also invited him that the alms collected during this year be given to the Holy Father, as has been done in other previous jubilees in the Diocese of Cartagena.
The days that plenary indulgences can be profited, all of them related to the image of Our Lady of the Real de las Huertas or devotion to the Virgin Mary, are: March 17, at the opening of Jubilee Time;
every Sunday in May;
on September 8, feast of Our Lady the Real de las Huertas;
September 22, at the Eucharist on the occasion of the pilgrimage of the image to the parish of Our Lady of Carmen;
on November 26, the anniversary of the canonical coronation;
and on March 22, 2020, in the celebration of the closing of this Jubilee Time.
In order to profit from the plenary indulgences, the customary requirements (Eucharistic communion, sacramental confession, prayer of the Creed and pray for the intentions of the Pope) must be fulfilled, in addition to visiting the parish sanctuary of Our Lady of the Real de las Huertas.
