The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare of the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, reported this morning that the Municipal Social Services Center is developing a project aimed at supporting families in situations of difficulty and / or social vulnerability in our municipality.

Fátima Mínguez explained that "specifically, it is the" Lorca Concilia "project, a resource aimed at improving the quality of life, childhood and adolescence, promoting from a socio-educational prism the integral evolution and healthy of minors, allowing them to create their own space, where their needs for expression and personal development are supported through the prevention of risk factors, implicit in their family, school and social life, making possible their insertion and promotion, it is aimed at children aged between 3 and 16 years. "

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare has detailed that "within this project school cafeteria aid is granted to cover basic needs of children in standardized resources, which are carried out after the social assessment and in a coordinated manner with the centers educational programs and with the different social initiatives of the territory Since the beginning of the academic year 2018/2019, to date, this aid has been requested by 78 families.It is worth noting that these are complementary to those approved by the Consistory in July and August on the occasion of the closure of school canteens in summer season. "

Mínguez stressed that "the objectives of this initiative are to combat school failure through school support activities, playful and creative activities, promote the learning of healthy eating habits and hygiene, work at the group and community level and involvement of families in the process and in follow-up. "

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare added that "within the" Lorca Concilia "project, formative, cultural, sports and leisure activities are also carried out, as well as social and family follow-up work, coordinated with the different agencies that collaborate at the local level.
