Nerea Ruiz, candidate for council to the City of Lorca and member of the regional governing body of Podemos, has indicated that one of the main measures of training for the next term will be the implementation of youth participatory budgets.
The candidate councilor has stated that, "the intention of We Lorca is to expand the program of participatory budgets offering a differentiated game to young people between 12 and 16 years to take part in the process."
The development work of these participatory budgets will be coordinated by the relevant councils, secondary education centers and youth associations in the municipality.
Ruiz believes that the City Council can not turn its back on young people, but must take into account their demands and make them participants in the evolution of the city in which they want to live.
For this reason, Ruiz explained that "youth participatory budgets are an educational project with a projection of the future aimed at promoting a democratic and participatory culture that links the City Council in the execution of decisions that young people vote."
Finally, Nerea Ruiz stressed that the ultimate goal of participatory youth budgets is "to generate citizenship values that make young people see the importance of participating in decision-making in public matters that concern us all equally. "
