The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, reported that the Plenary Session of the City Council held this morning in the Plenary Hall of the City Council unanimously approved to dedicate a street to the journalist Ángela Ruiz Ruiz Sánchez.

According to the abovementioned, numerous merits concur in his person, since Angela Ruiz contributed significantly to society, both from the profession to which he dedicated his life, journalism, and in the defense of the equality of women and many others. causes that found in it the necessary support.

It is a motion that includes the requests sent to the effect by the Journalists Association of the Region of Murcia and the Federation of Women's Organizations of Lorca.

Ángela Ruíz Sánchez was born in Lorca, in the district of Zarcilla de Ramos, in the bosom of a large family, composed of the six children of Antonia Sánchez and Salvador Ruiz.

Arrival to adulthood marched to Barcelona to study the Bachelor of Information Sciences.

The tragic death of her father, when still young, brought her back to Lorca in the early 80's. Meanwhile she met her husband Jaime Carrasco, they got married and settled in Lorca in 1984. Mother of two children, she was passionate about her profession and thanks to her open and pleasant nature she was a very dear person in Lorca, both in the public and private spheres, as well as in those of communication.

The intense professional career of this Bachelor of Information Sciences from the University of Barcelona, ​​with a specialization in Journalism written, includes that she was news editor at TVE Murcia (1985-1986), editor of Informativos at Cadena SER (1987- 1988), Chief Editor of the newspaper La Opinión (1989-1990), presenter at Onda 7 Televisión, Head of programming at Cadena Azul (1996-1999), journalist, writer, mother and as those who knew her "a great person" point out.

His professional career was always combined with his training.

Thus, the Journalist was also a University Expert in Protocol and Ceremonial by the University of Elche and possessed several master's specializations in Political Communication and in Institutional and Government Communication Strategies, as well as an Expert in Equality by the Ministry and the Institute of Woman, being the Coordinator of the Course: "The media facing the challenge of equality: Representation of gender, stereotypes and social change", taught by the Women's Institute of the Region of Murcia, through the International University of Sea in 2007.

The journalist Ángela Ruiz worked for many years in the written press, radio, television and institutional communication, always emphasizing in the defense of the equality of women.

If we had to define the journalist Ruiz Sánchez in a few words, we would say, without fear of being wrong, that she was a tireless fighter;

enterprising

brave;

of character and with firm moral convictions.

Among them, was to firmly believe that the media can make an outstanding contribution to a more egalitarian world and this was applied during his long professional career.

That firm conviction led her to work as a freelancer in the Women's Institute of the Region of Murcia, advising on institutional communication and equality for the different directors that the Institute had in a long period of time, among them our beloved neighbor of Lorca, Mrs. Paloma Recio.

Thus, the Federation of Women's Organizations recognized in a very fair way its efforts in the defense of equality, delivering in 2015, its prize "March 8".

After his death, in the edition of this year 2017, have decided to make a beautiful tribute to the journalist putting his name to the award.

It was also chosen Murciana Woman of the year 2017 posthumously, as well as, Diploma of Distinguished Services of the City of Lorca.

Similarly, it should be noted, as stated, its entrepreneurial character.

Facet that pushed her to create companies, such as ATC11 Producciones, which was awarded at the International Scientific Film Biennial of Ronda for a documentary about Argaric culture in Lorca.

Likewise and because of the Alzheimer's disease suffered by his mother, and in view of the needs of a patient of this type for his care, he renounces an offer of work as a press editor in the town of Alicante and thus he embarked in the creation of a company for the care of the sick and the elderly, together with two partners, who continue this fantastic work.

Being a woman of courage, took place three months before his death from breast cancer.

There, in the Health Week, invited by the Delegation of Lorca of the Spanish Association against Cancer, delivered the conference: "Live without limits, live without fear."

In which he spoke about his personal experience in fighting this disease.

Very young, at age 60, Ángela Ruiz Sánchez, after an incarnated fight against cancer, left her beloved city of Lorca, which is sure wherever she will speak and write wonders with the pride of being Lorca that accompanied him throughout his life. lifetime.
