The City Council, before the initial refusal, insisted in front of Adif until getting the final approval for this solution, since it was a real disaster for the homes of many Lorca in the area of the Mill of the Sierra.
Councilman of Municipal Works and Services in the City of Lorca, Angel Mecca, has confirmed that the modification of the project of section 1 of the round to change a higher step for another lower type has been an excellent news for the many neighbors of the area of the Mill of the Mountain range, that were condemned to that their houses were literally "walled" between walls of a height superior to 15 meters.
In fact, the work developed by the technicians of this City Council allowed Adif to rethink its initial position and allow this solution.
We are puzzled by the radical defense that the PSOE makes of these overpasses and their walls, since precisely now we are fighting to prevent Villaespesa from doing the same.
The attachment of the PSOE with these walls is inversely proportional to that felt by the rest of Lorca, especially those who were going to suffer.
The City Council obtained that the construction works of section 1 of the central round, which were already underway, contemplated an important improvement that directly benefits several families living in the area of the Mill of the Sierra.
It is a remarkable improvement in the original project that will allow changing a flyover, which entailed the construction of walls of almost 15 meters in height, by a lower passage.
This way we will be able to give a positive response to the needs expressed by the victims, registering a major advance from the points of view of safety and aesthetics, integrating the work perfectly in the area in which it is being carried out.
On the criticisms voiced by the PSOE in this regard, Angel Meca has been surprised because this step was also requested by them at the time.
The Edil de Obras has taken the opportunity to strongly deny, as he did months ago, that this improvement of the project interferes with the burial of the railway line, something that is totally false.
Ángel Meca has pointed out that in the process of building the strategic infrastructures that Lorca need, there are plenty of trips and lack of dialogue and collaboration on the part of everyone.
The challenge of the City Council has always been to avoid the affliction that this high pass would entail for those affected.
In this way it is possible to remove a 15 meter wall from the project that would have a great aesthetic and functional impact.
The Edil de Obras explained that this improvement was a priority for the City Council precisely because of its particular positive impact for all Lorca.
It should be noted that it may be materialized thanks to the efforts that have been made with the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (ADIF) that was sensitive to the request transferred from this Municipal Administration to review the possibility of allowing this action, since at first was reported negatively about it.
We are talking, therefore, of a manifest impulse that will allow us to suppress a wall of almost 15 meters next to the usual homes of several Lorca families, while improving the layout of the evacuation round.
We respond, in this way, to the petition transferred by the residents of the area.
It is not only about burying the passage of the vehicles that transit through the round, but it has to reconcile a solution for different affected services, as it is the case of conductions of the Mancomunidad of the Channels of the Taibilla.
