The councilor of this formation, Gloria Martin, warned that this road, which should serve as an evacuation route to the A-7 highway and as a link between San Antonio, La Viña and the upper neighborhoods, will be converted into a "stopper" in case of emergency if the promoters insist on executing the current project
Councilor of Left-United Greens, Gloria Martin, has denounced the discomfort of the residents of La Viña for the execution of the regeneration works of La Salud and Cristo Rey, which are being carried out under the EIB loan for recovery of Lorca after the earthquakes.
Martín has warned that the planned remodeling to connect the Viña with the San Antonio neighborhood and with the upper area of the city, not only will not serve to improve mobility and accessibility, but will generate a significant bottleneck when contemplating that the street Rubén Darío continues being of a single lane.
In this regard, he regretted that this street, which should serve as an evacuation route to the A-7 highway, will be turned into a "stopper" in case of emergency if the promoters insist on executing the current project.
Martín criticized that an investment of more than two million euros will not serve to solve in the long term the communication problems existing in La Viña.
"We are not listening to the neighbors, who have seen how the project they were presented initially, has nothing to do with the reality of the works that are intended to be carried out," he explained.
In addition, residents complain that the work also includes the narrowing of Journalists Street with the construction of a wall that will hinder road traffic, as well as the suppression of parking spaces that will be replaced by others that fit in the plans but that do not match the actual measurements of the streets.
On the problem of Rubén Darío Street, Martín assured that the solution is only "a matter of political will", through the acquisition by the City Council of the necessary space for the expansion of the road, owned by a banking entity.
"They can do it in two ways: by obtaining the advance cession of lands that are part of a unit of action, or proceeding to expropriation," he said.
To the thread, Martín assured that it is unjust that the equipment of Government of the PP does not have empacho in throwing of expropriations when the affected ones are simple neighbors, but on the other hand it becomes "timid", to touch a necessary ground to undertake a work of social interest when it is owned by a bank.
The mayor of IU recalled that the PP municipal government team also promotes specific modifications of the General Plan "when it comes to favoring the wealthy," but becomes "lazy" when it comes to rationally planning actions that are fair and that the neighbors have been demanding for years to guarantee their safety.
"In that case, the only thing they put are excuses."
For this reason, Martín has demanded that a committee of affected people be summoned urgently to hold a meeting with those responsible for the technical direction of the work, with the City Council and with the heads of the Ministry of Development to find a solution.
At the same time, he warned that the neighbors will mobilize if the administrations do not listen to them and that IU-Greens will be with them in each and every one of their mobilizations.
