The mayoral candidate for IU, Pedro Sosa, has denounced the existence of a large landfill of bricks and asbestos in a plot attached to the beach volleyball center, headquarters of the Spanish National Team of this sport discipline.
"The remains of uralita are scattered over a wide area, in a place frequently traveled by children who use it as a shortcut.
Sosa regretted that in the XXI century, this is the unfortunate image of "maroon and degradation" offered by the municipality and blamed this situation, which is reproduced in many other places in the urban area, the councilor of the PP, Saturnina Martinez.
On Martinez, Sosa said that it is the "worst" Councilor for the Environment in the history of the City of Lorca.
The mayoral candidate for IU reminded him that his obligation, also as councilor of Urbanism, is to put in waist to the owners of plots that break the current regulations and consent to these sources of contamination.
In that sense, Sosa recalled the continued complaints of IU on the existence of illegal landfills and lamented the "pasotism" of the responsible mayor, unable to apply a "strong hand" with those who jump to the bullfighting municipal ordinances and endanger the health and safety of neighbors.
"We demand that you give immediate orders to the owners of this site to remove the waste that, in the case of asbestos, will have to be treated as it is a very dangerous waste."
In case the owners do not proceed to the adequacy of the site, Sosa requested that the City Council execute it in a subsidiary manner and pass the bill to those responsible.
Sosa also warned of the accumulation of large amounts of garbage and debris under the bridge of the A-7 motorway, in the middle of the river Guadalentín, in a place close to the raft owned by the Community of Irrigators of Lorca.
For this reason, he also demanded that the Segura Hydrographic Confederation "take action on the matter".
