The children of the School of San Cristóbal de Lorca participated last Friday May 10 in the campaign of planting of native species in the Park of La Verdad del Barrio de San Cristóbal del Municipio, organized by the Department of Environment and Parks and Gardens of the City of Lorca on the occasion of World Tree Day.
In this environmental education initiative, which involved 150 children in early childhood education, aims to raise awareness among children about the respect, care and proper use of the common environment and nature, while contributing to the increase of the green zone of this public space.
The schoolchildren planted about 150 specimens of various species of pine, facilitated by the City of Lorca, which also supplied the necessary material and personnel who collaborated in the day of environmental awareness.
It should also be noted that all species are native and adapted to the soil and climate of the area, thus favoring their proper integration into the landscape.
