The next June 15 there will be a new opportunity to enjoy this activity, leaving from our city and arrival in the neighboring town of Almeria.
The Councilor for Tourism in the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, reported that the first historic-literary route called "The Jewish Friend" has been made, which last Saturday had its first route, and will be repeated on the 15th June.
The historical literary route "The Jewish Friend" goes through the historical enclaves of Lorca and Vélez Blanco, in which the novel of the same name is developed, by the Almerian writer, Justo Pageo Ruzafa.
This tour of the old Nazari border was held for the first time with the participation of a group of the Association of Friends of the Alcazaba de Almería, an entity that has more than 600 followers in more than 14 provinces and who usually participates in a multitude of of cultural activities, as part of its work to disseminate Almeria's heritage.
On this occasion and due to its proximity, the route started in Vélez Blanco, where the Castle and the Cerro del Judío were visited, entering the municipality of Lorca to see the Xiquena Castle and the Rye Mosque.
In the city, they took a break for lunch at a local restaurant before visiting the Castle of Lorca and the Jewish quarter with its Synagogue.
Later they met the Hall of the Judería of the Municipal Archaeological Museum, to see the material remains found in the excavations of the Archaeological Park of the Castle of Lorca.
Throughout the tour, the author of the book "The Jewish Friend," Justo Page, accompanied the visitors to reveal the details of the novel that occur in each of the points of the route.
Along the way you could admire the autochthonous landscape of this area of the Spanish southeast to enjoy nature outdoors, where some small section was on foot.
Francisco Montiel explained that the author Justo Pageo Ruzafa is a writer and director of video and television, among his works include the series entitled "The Moriscos", "From the nail to the computer", and the documentary "Proud the wind hurt" (English version) : Proudly Hurt Wind) and the literary works "Notices of jail", "The battery of Bagdad" and in 2017 publishes "Tragedy and death of Abén-Humeya".
The book explains that before the death of David in an attack in Israel, his wife Esther and his father Ezequiel move to Spain to collect the unfinished result of their research on the Sephardic origin of the family, for which they require the help of Miguel , a good Spanish friend that David had told them a lot about, who in his capacity as a TV producer had come to Spain to record a documentary series for Israel and his family asked him to investigate the origin of his last name, Fajardo, in the part of the old frontier of the Nazari Kingdom of Granada, in the current provinces of Murcia and Almeria.
He begins his investigations with the help of Miguel who resides in Lorca but finds it more complicated than they expected since at that time the surname changes were frequent for reasons of conversion to other religions, dissimulation or change of residence, finding that a The same surname may be common to different creeds.
