The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos has requested that the dining service be maintained during the summer period to ensure food and socio-educational reinforcement especially for families in Lorca in situation or at risk of social exclusion, facilitating the reconciliation of family and work life.
Mazuecos has warned that next June 25, the end of this school year, "will be the last day that school canteens will close until September," and therefore, the end of the lunch scholarships.
The closing of the school canteens in summer will affect hundreds of children Lorca at risk of exclusion because, he recalls "for many families this food is the main sustenance they can give their children."
From the PSOE Lorca remember that this initiative, which in other municipalities in the region is developing normally and in a totally sustainable, "has not yet been launched in the municipality of Lorca by the constant refusal" of a Popular Party " insensitive "to the indicators that warn of the high levels of child poverty in the municipality and, therefore, to the need to tackle this problem that affects the most vulnerable population of our society.
