Diego José Mateos: "This is another measure that demonstrates the need for the Region of Murcia to produce the necessary change, which is committed to regeneration and social progress." The closure of clinics is not justified since during these months there is a decrease in population in the districts and diseases do not understand calendars. "
The candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has demanded that the Regional Government and the Murcian Health Service not close medical offices in districts during the summer months.
The PSOE Lorca also opposes the closure of plants in the Rafael Méndez hospital that the Regional Government usually do with the arrival of summer, as happened last year with the excuse of carrying out reforms.
Mateos has said that we are "facing another unjust measure that the Popular Party repeats every summer, and evidence the need for the Region of Murcia and Lorca to produce the necessary change, by regeneration and social progress, towards another model of efficient, sustainable public health management that guarantees the universality of public health ".
The Socialist spokesman says that "the closure of clinics is not justified because during these months there is a decline in population in the districts and diseases do not understand calendars."
Aguaderas or La Campana, among other districts, are closed their consultations during the summer, and others, such as La Paca or Ramonete, some of their queries are reduced their schedules as a result of the lack of staff to replace the usual staff during their vacation permits.
"It is a measure that for years, and due to the policies of cuts in health of the Popular Party, are suffering the districts of Lorca."
"The closure of offices in districts and medical facilities in Rafael Méndez is due to the fact that in this way, the Regional Government saves the hiring of staff to cover the losses of the usual staff for vacations."
Mateos says that "this unfair measure is a huge concern for citizens who reside in the affected areas."
"The network of parish clinics is essential to care for a population, most of them elderly people, who need these medical centers for such basic and routine questions as obtaining their medical prescriptions without having to make long and annoying trips".
"It is unfair to close medical offices in districts and centralize these consultations in medical centers in the city, without taking into account that these neighbors do not have a public transport that connects their districts with the city."
