The Councilor for Local Police and Public Safety of the City of Lorca, José Luis Ruiz Guillén, has reported "a police intervention carried out last Wednesday night that resulted in the seizure of 79 watermelons that had been stolen in a farm located on the Pulpí Road ".
The Councilor for Public Safety has explained that "within the tasks of citizen security and surveillance, which are carried out by the Local Police Corps, this past Wednesday at 10:30 pm, the agents intercepted a vehicle on the Road Marín de Lorca in which the overload was evident. "
Once the vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 39-year-old man, was identified, there were 79 watermelons in the passenger compartment area.
To questions of the agents, the detainee said that he had taken them without permission from a farm, so the products were intervened and deposited in the Local Police Dependencies. "
In addition, when checking the vehicle documentation, it was found that it lacked Obligatory Automobile Insurance and had the Technical Inspection of Vehicles (ITV) expired, so that the vehicle was removed by the crane and transferred to the Municipal Vehicle Deposit.
After the relevant investigations the agents verified that the watermelons belonged to a company located in Águilas, which gave them to be delivered to a non-profit organization in Lorca, with the San Diego Asylum being the recipient of the merchandise.
Ruiz Guillén has reiterated that "with these important actions, the constant preventive / operational work carried out by the Local Police of Lorca is confirmed through the different units in which it is organized and through the surveillance devices established throughout the term municipal, as well as its coordination with the rest of the Security Forces and Bodies ".
