There will be a first prize for the most complete singer who will receive 'Golden Sun Trophy', diploma and 3,000 euros;
the second, 'Silver Sun Trophy', diploma and 2,000 euros, and the third, the 'Bronze Sun', diploma and 1,000 euros.
The Councilor for Culture of the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos, recalled that the Peña Cultural Flamenca de Lorca, with the sponsorship of the Consororio Lorquino, organizes the XXIX edition of the International Festival of Flamenco Singing "Ciudad del Sol" that will take place next November 7, 8 and 9 at the Guerra de Lorca Theater.
The mayor of Culture recalled that "the registration period to participate will be open until September 28. All singers may wish to present, regardless of sex and provided they exceed 14 years, minors they must present written authorization signed by the father, mother or legal guardian. The winners of the Golden Sun of the last three editions cannot participate. "
Mazuecos has detailed that "there will be three awards: a first to the most complete singer to whom the Golden Sun Trophy, diploma and the amount of 3,000 euros will correspond, a second that will receive the Silver Sun Trophy, diploma and 2,000 euros, and the third Bronze Sol, diploma in addition to 1,000 euros. In addition, an extraordinary second prize of 500 euros will be awarded to the contestants who, in the semifinal phase, do not qualify for the final; and a diploma accrediting their participation. "
According to the councilwoman, the contest will be divided in the preliminary phase, with the intention of promoting Flamenco and promoting this Festival, the tests will be carried out before the public and jury, with a maximum of seven participants per night of which five will be selected that will pass to the semifinal where the three singers with the highest score will get the pass to the grand final.
These phases will be held on October 5 and 19 at the headquarters of the Peña Flamenca "Ciudad del Sol", located in C / Colmenarico, and on 12 and 26 of the same month in two districts of Lorca ".
The final phase will feature two sessions, at the Guerra Theater, on Friday, November 8, the semifinal and the final on Saturday, November 9.
In the qualification phase and in the semifinal the contestants must interpret three songs, each of a group different from the six that are proposed, while in the final there will be four mandatory songs.
The jury will keep in mind, when qualifying, the flamenco depth and purity of the interpreted songs, as well as the knowledge demonstrated by the contestant when executing them.
It will positively assess the interpretation of disused or infrequent sticks or modalities and also the use of new or little-known letters.
During the proceedings and in the content of the lyrics, expressions that contain sexist, xenophobic, racist, homophobic or offensive connotations against people or institutions, or that apologize for violence or terrorism, are prohibited.
