A planned action to be carried out by the beneficiaries of a new mixed employment and training program called 'Pasarela' will be involved in aspects such as railings, lighting, pavement, painting or gardening.
The Councilor for Local Development of the City of Lorca, Isabel Casalduero, informed this morning of the plan to improve both the infrastructure and the surroundings of the Mayor Miguel Navarro Footbridge that is presented to the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF) for approval.
Casalduero has announced that "the action will consist in the recovery and improvement of the popularly known as Pasarela Manterola. Specifically, the beneficiaries of a new mixed employment and training program called 'Pasarela' will intervene in aspects such as railings, lighting, pavement, paint or gardening. "
The Edil explained that "the local Development Department has prepared the project that, after the approval of the SEF, will be launched to improve the pedestrian walkway that saves the Guadalentín River and connects the urban area of ​​the city with the Barrio de San Cristobal".
Casalduero Jódar detailed that "32 unemployed people, over 25 years of age, will always benefit from this program, who will always be accompanied by 4 monitors. A project consisting of training that is divided into a theoretical part and another practice in which students will have with a contract in training for which they will charge the minimum interprofessional salary. "
The Councilor informed that "the program will last one year, beginning the first quarter of 2020 and ending, therefore, the first quarter of 2021. In addition, this thirty beneficiaries, after the course, will get their respective certificates of professionalism divided in four different specialties with eight places in each one: Pavements and masonry of urbanization; Auxiliary operations of plumbing and heating-domestic air conditioning, Auxiliary activities in nurseries, gardens and garden centers and Decorative painting and construction.
Isabel Casalduero has remarked that "it is one of the first actions that this new Government Team will launch to end, thus, with the abandonment and subsequent degradation of the San Cristóbal neighborhood."
The mayor explained that "to value this area of ​​the city is one of the objectives set by the current Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, who is committed to the recovery of San Cristóbal and, therefore, this action to recover the Mayor Miguel Navarro Footbridge, will be complemented by the creation of a Local Police headquarters to reinforce security in the area, the creation of new green spaces or the renovation of Portijico Street and its surroundings. "
