The Councilor for Sports of the City of Lorca, Irene Jódar, presented this morning with Miguel Ángel Moreno, representative of the El Gigante Cycling Club, the V Race BxM 'Sierra del Gigante' to be held next Sunday, August 25 in the district of the Parish.
The Edil de Deportes recalled that "to participate in the test it is essential to register through the website www.cronomur.es and the deadline for registration will be open until Wednesday, August 21, at 11:59 p.m. Fifth edition of the BxM Race 'Sierra del Gigante' will take place next Sunday, will start from 9 in the morning and is a scoring test for the FasterWear Cup BxM Region of Murcia and valid for the BXM Regional Championship 2019 of the Mountaineering Federation of the Region of Murcia ".
Jódar has detailed that "the exit and the goal will be the Main Street of the hamlet of La Parroquia, next to Bar Aurora. A route of about 48 km, with a medium physical and technical level since it has a launched exit, distributed in rural roads, forest tracks and paths, along the municipality of Lorca, through the area of ​​the Sierra del Gigante. "
The Councilor recalled that "this test is considered one of the best races on the calendar of the Iberian Peninsula, in aspects such as organization, price, environment, services, quality and difficulty of the route."
As in previous editions, this V 'Sierra del Gigante' will have to ascend three ports with quite hard ramps, such as the one of 'Los Machos' of 5.5 kilometers and 470 meters of unevenness, that of 'Carasoles' of 3 kilometers and 180 meters of unevenness and that of 'Los Quemaos' of 3.5 kilometers and 230 meters of accumulated slope with the hardest part at the end of the port, in addition to several dangerous curves and areas with enough difficulties to overtake.
From the El Gigante Cycling Club remember that "90% of the test route runs through ZEPA (special protection of birds) and LIC (community interest) areas so it is very important that all participants become aware of the great importance of respecting the natural environment through which it is run and, therefore, we remember the prohibition of throwing wrappers on the ground or abandoning bedrooms except at the designated refreshment points, since in part of this it will also depend on whether you can continue enjoying these places in later years. "
In addition, they have also pointed out that "from the organization we will have zero tolerance with these acts for respect for the natural environment, cyclists must use the garbage containers placed in the supplies or the pockets of their jerseys to deposit food wrappings, being a reason of disqualification throw these wrappers on the ground ".
The organization, as in previous editions, will offer "a free barbecue lunch for all those enrolled in the BxM 'Sierra del Gigante', for which it will be mandatory to check the 'eat' box when registering, being also available for companions if so it is requested, although in this case it will have a cost. And, in addition, the participants will be able to shower in the changing rooms of the municipal swimming pool ".
This event has the collaboration of the Department of Sports and Emergencies of the City of Lorca and the Mountaineering Federation of the Region of Murcia, is the beautiful route it has, near the Luchena River, whose course will be crossed in several occasions.
Also, included in the school sport of the Region of Murcia, a circuit for children, the Mini Cup that coincides with the Regional Championship, which will be chosen by federated participants in BxM in its different categories, will be held in parallel with the race Children up to 14 years, registration will be completely free.
