Gloria Martín has lamented that the City Council takes five years without doing its homework to stop air pollution, acoustics, lighting or that has to do with the selective collection of waste, and has demanded that work is also done in the development of a odor map to reduce its great environmental impact

The councilor of the United Left-Greens, Gloria Martín, has asked the municipal government team (PSOE and C`s) to prioritize the implementation of the recommendations indicated by the Court of Auditors for the improvement of air quality in Lorca

Martín recalled that his political training has insisted on numerous occasions on the need to intensify measures aimed at reducing pollution in the municipality and has regretted that it has to be an audit report of this body that calls attention to this affair.

"The City Council has been doing homework for five years to stop air pollution, but neither does acoustics, lighting or that has to do with the selective collection of waste," said Martin, who has asked that, "of course, let's recover the lost time. "

For all these reasons, it has demanded that work begin immediately in the approval of an ordinance regulating air quality and in the execution of plans and programs aimed at reducing the emission of polluting particles.

In addition, it has reiterated the requirement of IU to implement, at least, another tropospheric ozone measuring station and to renew the analyzers of the existing one, which are characterized by their continuous failures.

"When they stop working, it is impossible to detect the overcoming of the legal values ​​of health protection, so it is not possible to alert the population or apply the necessary measures to protect it," he said.

Martín has also proposed that the City Council include measures to fight against odoriferous contamination, for which it is necessary to prepare a map of odors that will allow the determination of emission sources and implement the corresponding intervention to try to reduce its environmental impact.

On that issue, the IU councilwoman has labeled it "unacceptable" that the neighbors have to suffer stinks systematically and also that this is the city's business card to tourists. "

Until now, as explained, there is no line of work specifically aimed at this type of pollution despite the presence of highly polluting industries that make it difficult to breathe in some areas of the town due to the mixture of animal fats and odors. slurry
