On Friday, September 6 at 10:00 in the morning, the president of the Peña Flamenca "Ciudad del Sol", Cayetano Padilla together with the mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos and the Councilor for Culture, María Ángeles Mazuecos, have presented the XXIX International Festival of Flamenco Cante "Ciudad del Sol" and the poster poster.
This edition will take place on November 7, 8 and 9 at the Guerra de Lorca Theater.
In addition to the mayor and the head of culture, representatives of all the groups of the municipal corporation of the city of Lorca have participated in the event.
On behalf of the municipality of La Unión, Elena Lozano Bleda, First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture and the Councilor for Sports, José Solano, accompanied by members of the board of directors of the Peña Flamenca.
Elena Lozano Bleda is also Vice President of the Cante de las Minas de la Unión Foundation.
Also present, on behalf of the Flamenco Festival of Lo Ferro, Andrés Patón, president of the Jury, and Nuria Cantero, component of the organization.

All singers may wish to present, regardless of sex and provided they exceed 14 years of age, minors must submit written authorization signed by the father, mother or legal guardian.
The winners of the Golden Sun of the last three editions cannot participate.
There will be three prizes: a first one to the most complete singer to whom the Sol de Oro Trophy, diploma and the amount of 3,000 euros will correspond, a second that will receive the Silver Sol Trophy, diploma and 2,000 euros, and the third Bronze Sun , diploma in addition to 1,000 euros.
In addition, an extraordinary second prize of 500 euros will be awarded to the contestants who, in the semifinal phase, do not qualify for the final, along with a diploma accrediting their participation.
Cayetano Padilla, president of the Peña Cultural Flamenca "Ciudad del Sol", organizer of the Festival, has detailed that "the contest is divided into a preliminary phase where a total of between 25 and 30 contestants will participate.
With the intention of promoting flamenco and promoting this Festival, the tests will be carried out, before the public and jury, in different parts of the municipality, with a maximum of seven participants per night.
This preliminary or classification phase will be held on October 5 and 26 at the headquarters of the Peña Flamenca "Ciudad del Sol", located in Colmenarico street, n ° 12 of Lorca;
the day of October 12 in the AAVV of Aguaderas, coinciding with their parties, and the day of the 26 in the Castle of Lorca. "
The final phase will pass five semifinalists of the contestants who have obtained the highest score in the preliminary phase.
This phase consists of three days that will take place at the Guerra de Lorca Theater;
the first, on Thursday, November 7, where the Festival will be inaugurated with the proclamation of María Antonia García Jiménez, followed by the performance of the winner of the last Festival, Beatriz Romero, of Huelva, and a tribute will be paid to Perlita de Huelva , artist invited to the inaugural gala that the Peña Flamenca Ciudad del Sol organized in the Plaza de España in 1989.
On Friday, November 8, the semifinal will be held where the five students in the previous phase will participate and will be completed with a recital or interpretation of flamenco dance.
The final will take place on Saturday, November 9 where the three finalists will compete for the first prize, The Golden Sun. As usual, on this last day, a tribute will be paid to a partner who has distinguished himself for his collaboration and Peña service.
He will attend, as a guest artist, Pedro "El Granaino", a consecrated figure of singing and a great success that dominates the different flamenco clubs.
Both in the qualifying and semifinal stages, the contestants must interpret three songs, each of a group different from the six proposed in the bases, while in the final four mandatory songs will be.
The jury will keep in mind, when qualifying, the flamenco depth and purity of the interpreted songs, as well as the knowledge demonstrated by the contestant when executing them.
It will positively value the interpretation of disused or infrequent sticks or modalities and also, the use of original or little-known letters.
During the proceedings, in the content of the lyrics, expressions that contain sexist, xenophobic, racist, homophobic or offensive connotations against people or institutions, or that make an apology for violence or terrorism, are prohibited.

The young Albacete Alba Guerreo García, has been the author of the poster announcing this year's edition, after winning with her work entitled "Flamenco in the city of Lorca", the contest called and which will serve as image and representation of the XXIXX edition of the International Festival of Flamenco Cante "Ciudad del Sol" of Lorca.
Guerrero García has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Murcia.
In 2012 and 2018 he specialized with masters in management and research of cultural heritage and in diagnosis of the state of conservation of historical heritage.
She has been a beneficiary of international practical and professional training programs in document conservation and old photography, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Eurodysea and Erasmus.
He obtained the Culturex Scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain for studies on cultural management abroad, which he developed at the Fundaçao Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon.
He is currently doing his doctoral thesis in the History, Geography and History of Art program at the University of Murcia.
The second prize was obtained by Cristóbal Rodríguez Martínez, from Cehegín, who presented himself to the contest with his poster, "Lorra Guitar".
He also holds a Fine Arts degree in 2018 from the University of Murcia.
The third prize, corresponds to Pedro Meca Jiménez with his poster entitled, "City of the Flamenco Sun".
Pedro Meca is a lorquino, illustrator and professional graphic designer who develops his activity in the city of Murcia.
The first prize is endowed with 500 euros, the second with 250 euros and the third with 125 euros, plus two tickets to attend all the days of the Festival.
They also get a mention and two tickets to the Festival, the other semi-finalists classified until the tenth place.
The Peña Cultural Flamenca "Ciudad del Sol" of Lorca, organizer of the veteran and prestigious Festival, when proposing to María Antonia García Jiménez the proclamation of this event, has taken into account her great love of singing, music and Flamenco dance, as well as its concern for Culture in general.

On this occasion and for the first time, the prize for the winning poster will be named after a artist from Lorca, that of the painter Manuel Muñoz Barberán.
The Organization has considered that the figure and work of the painter represent creativity, artistic expression and the domain necessary for the creation of posters.
Identical faculties, but on the musical level, they are the ones that the participants that present themselves to the flamenco singing contest must have.
We must also remember that Manuel Muñoz Barberán was the one who restored the roof and made the new curtain of the Guerra Theater, official venue of the International Festival of Flamenco Singing City of the Sun.
The Organization of the Festival, contacted the heirs of the artist to communicate the proposal and request consent to name, with the name of the artist, the first prize and winning poster of the contest.
The Directorate of the Peña Cultural Flamenco City of the Sun, as organizer of the Festival, together with the City of Lorca, on behalf of its members and all fans of singing, music and flamenco art in general, thank the widow , to the children and relatives Manuel Muñoz Barberán their willingness to consider such request and their subsequent authorization.
This first prize, endowed with 500 euros, is sponsored by the Virgen del Alcázar de Lorca Hospital, as well as a commemorative diploma and two tickets for the three days of the Festival.
On Festival and forthcoming dates, parallel and flamenco-related activities will also be carried out.
An exhibition of flamenco figures, made in bronze, by the sculptor from Lorca, Lola Arcas, author, among other works, of the "Horse of the Oval" and the statue of Pepín Jiménez in the bullring is already organized.
For the first time in the history of the Festival, tickets will be sold online for the final phase of November 7, 8 and 9 through the Post Office platform.
It will also be the first time, that a payment of 20 euros for the three days is put up for sale, in addition to the sale of individual tickets.
For days 7 and 8 the price will be 5 euros and for the end of day 9, 15 euros.
Projects for the future
It is planned, in the future, to constitute an award within the flamenco singing contest in honor of a literary artist related to the city of Lorca.
Another project, which will be consulted and submitted to the General Meeting of Members, is the possibility of establishing a foundation, in the medium or long term, of which the Festival is part.
The presentation ceremony of the XXIX International Flamenco Festival "Ciudad del Sol" has ended with a brief performance by two Lorca artists;
the singer Nicolás Pelegrín and the guitarist Mercedes Luján.
Subsequently, the organization has offered a wine and a snack at the headquarters of the rock, where Nicolás and Mercedes once again delighted those present with a new exhibition of good singing and good music.
