The drug was hidden among animal skins from South America
A person has been investigated as the alleged author of a drug trafficking offense
The Civil Guard, in the framework of the HAUT operation, has intercepted a truck with 127 kilos of cocaine hidden between animal skins from South America on the RM-711 road (Caravaca-Lorca) at the height of the Murcia town of Lorca.
A Spanish citizen has been investigated for his alleged relationship with a drug trafficking offense.
The investigation began within the framework of the police devices aimed at the fight against drug trafficking, among which is the analysis that the Civil Guard has been carrying out on a permanent basis of documents and merchandise movements.
Agents learned that a container, suspected of harboring narcotic substances, could transit from the Port of Valencia to the Region of Murcia earlier this week.
The investigations carried out next allowed to know that the drug could be hidden in containers dedicated to the commercial exchange of merchandise of legal commerce, which would be used to hinder its location.
With the information obtained, on the afternoon of Monday 9, the Civil Guard established a police device around the main communication channels of the Region.
The result of this device was the circulation, on the RM-711 road (Caravaca-Lorca), of an articulated vehicle that seemed to respond to the characteristics of the transport suspected of containing the drug.
After adopting the corresponding security measures, he was intercepted in the municipality of Lorca to examine the shipping documentation and check the cargo, which allowed them to find out that the transport came from the Port of Valencia.
The Civil Guard unsealed the container and examined its contents: a load of animal skins from South America.
After moving each of the pallets and inspecting among the numerous sheets of animal skins, the agents located more than a hundred rectangular packages containing white powder-like substance that, after analyzing it, turned out to be positive in cocaine.
It is one of the biggest apprehensions of cocaine of recent times carried out in the Region of Murcia by the Civil Guard.
The proceedings, the person investigated and the drug seized have been made available to the Court of Instruction of Lorca.
The investigation remains open.
