The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, has denounced today the deficiencies in infrastructure and services that afflict the neighbors of the Deputation of Tercia and, especially, those who reside in the Villatercia urbanization.
Martín explained that his municipal group receives complaints of all kinds.
Among them, the lack of connection with the town center through public transport has been highlighted, with only two bus services per day from Monday to Friday.
The healthcare deficit also affects them in health matters because the office lacks a pediatrician, so children have to be treated in Lorca, usually in the San Diego health center, which is collapsed.
Others have to move to La Hoya or even La Viña.
But, above all, the neighbors emphasize the dangers of heavy vehicle traffic in the area.
"The fathers and mothers are so uneasy that they organize themselves through a WhatsApp group to take turns watching the kids when they go out to play in the street," said Martin.
Therefore, he requested measures to reduce the speed of circulation at the entrance of this population center and better signaling and control so that trucks do not end up lost in the middle of the urbanization or use their streets as a shortcut to reach nearby fruit and vegetable companies .
Martin also referred to the proliferation of lots that do not comply with health and safety regulations, and "that are only cleaned when the holidays arrive."
The park and sports courts are also in unfortunate conditions, with elements that pose a danger to children such as cables or the presence of crystals.
The enclave also lacks woodland and enough green areas.
Regarding the public school Villaespesa, Martín explained that the center does not have indoor courts and sports hall.
The educational community is forced to use the Santa Gertrudis social for end-of-course parties and other extracurricular activities.
Regarding the safety of minors, the mayor of IU-Verdes stressed the presence of asbestos in the facilities and made reference to the circulation problems that are generated at the entrance and exit of the school.
In that sense, he asked for a study by the local police to implement measures that order traffic and ensure the safety of schoolchildren, since there have even been abuses.
Martin has lamented the abandonment of the City Council towards the rural population centers, including those near the town center of Lorca, as is the case.
"You cannot project urbanizations and then not provide them with public infrastructure and services in line with the needs of neighbors who pay taxes religiously," he concluded.
