The painter Perla Fuertes opens her new exhibition "Palimpsestos" at the MASS, Blue Museum of Holy Week in Lorca tomorrow Friday October 4, placing the City of the Sun at the epicenter of her artistic proposal.
23 paintings with excellent references to a municipality that, like the name of the exhibition, has been reinventing itself from prehistory, through Romanization, the Islamic and Christian city that finished shaping the current Lorca.
Works that honor the neoclassical bridge of La Alberca, known as the neighborhood bridge, the beautiful harp-shaped catwalk, Manterola and also a recognition of the embroidered mantles that houses the Blue Museum.
The exhibition is completed with works starring human figures whose ultimate goal is to make us feel, vibrate ... get excited.
The place that hosts the exhibition, the MASS, is based in the former Convent of San Francisco (XVI-XVII centuries) and contains an embroidery workshop and an exhibition of the main mantles and treasures that make up the heritage of the brotherhood of El Paso Blue, the Brotherhood of Labradors.
It is an exhibition space that since its construction has undergone several functions and becomes the perfect place for the work of Perla Fuertes that makes the observer participate in a rich superposition of speeches that fight over each other as if from an old palimpsest this will try.
On this occasion the Alhamanian painter wanted to capture in some of her paintings the gift for the senses that floods the visitor of this ancient town that smells of blue carnations with its old cobbled streets and countless corners.
The art historian, critic and designer, Pedro Manzano, says that “it is the ideas that overlap, the experiences lived by the painter herself that emerge in the canvases that open the doors to elucidate different readings of each of his pieces, according to the moment or the mood of the spectator ”.
Manzano assures in the prologue of the exhibition catalog that the models of his paintings become actors "whose role is to serve as an excuse through which to send us sensations, ideas and, above all, feelings."
The contemplation of the exhibition creates a calming atmosphere, absent from tensions, dominated by poorly textured, gray, bluish and golden backgrounds.

He has traveled to the exhibition d'Art contremporain in the City Hall of Seoul, in South Korea, has been to “Space in Art” in New York, at the Franco - Allemande d'Art contemporain in Cologne, Germany, has exhibited at the Beauté du Martin Calme gallery in Paris, in the "Art General Gallery" in Brussels and one of his paintings is exhibited in Tokyo (Japan), among other points of geography.
The “Palimpsestos” Exhibition coincides with the presence of his painting 'Inevitable Impulse' in the D'automne room in the Elyseos Fields in Paris from October 10 to 13 with world-class artists.
The sample hosted in Lorca can be visited until next October 30, from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 2 pm in the morning and from 5 pm to 7:30 pm in the afternoon and from 10 am to 2 pm in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays .
